  1. Sorry, man...Hope you're back at it soon. I'm in the same boat. I just got rear-ended by some idiot and am on hold with insurance people. If concussion symptoms come on, I may be done playing for good. Pretty nervous.

actually had my pcs return the other day and had a few terrible days, I'm starting to feel a little bit better

  2. Customers who ask: "Are you any good at sharpening?"

...are you any good at your job?

I ask this all the time to see their reaction.... Someone who knows what there doing will usually laugh and give it the old nope, it's my first time. Those that are unsure of their abilities usually hesitate to answer. I've never not let someone sharpen my skates once i've enter the place but it's nice to kinda know what to expect

  3. My right shoulder is a mess. I'm thinking it's Rotator Cuff. Not sure when I hurt it, but it clicks and pops a LOT when I rotate it...and it's weak when I have any weight or resistance on it. Even holding my arm out and turning my palms to face upward hurts. Ball and Summer hockey both start soon. My GF asked me yesterday when I was going to go to a Dr. I said I wasn't. I fear that any treatment will screw me for the summer.

I know it's childish and stupid.

    FML!

    /end vent.

Originally had my issues with mine start when I was about 13 had issues with them practically year round till I stopped competitive sports at around 21, I'll be 24 in two months and have finally been pain free for about a year or more...... Don't mess around with them, not fun to deal with at all

  4. haha... I wouldn't call it brillance, just taking the time to sift through stuff to find what you want instead of ordering on impulse. With my palms I try to find the best combo of feel, grip an durabilty. Being able to add the digital overlay gives me that where I need it. I *knock on wood* won't ever have to fully repalm, if anything I'll only have to slap a new overlay on the right glove

  5. Don't just leave us hanging. What exactly did Eagle change for you?

I can't exactly tell you what all they changed because I don't know the specific measurements of their gloves. Basically what I did was take measurements from a pair of warriors that I modified myself in the palm, fingers and gussets along with my hand measurements(longest finger and palm width)in with the spec sheet to DS.

As for fit what I got is I believe the PPFi size then modded with the shorter finger length as well as specific gusset height and taper to the palm. Aesthetically they're just the plain navy tufftek with only the cuff roll logo which is stitched and the number on the thumb pack. I mod all my gloves to have nothing above the cuff roll so I had them done and I went with the digital overlay on the right because I like extra grip.

Overall I'm very pleased with them. I got together with DS in early Dec and just received them today, but it was well worth the weight. For $260 and some change I got the exact glove I want made to the exact specs including fit, I think I got my moneys worth.....

  6. Big thanks to Darkstar for these... Lots of details for the fit of these gloves. I'm very detail oriented with the fit of my gloves and Eagle took care of me making these to the exact measurements of my hands.. As far as looks there's not to much going on, just a simple navy color with the white branding and number. Went MSH2 palms but had them put a digital overlay on the right

  7. Pulled my groin pretty bad. 2000mg of pain pills doesn't even put a dent in the discomfort/pain.

Ice, Ice, Ice, and Ice..... Just healed from mine, I could barely walk when mine went. Iced it for 25-30 minutes then let the pack refreeze then repeat ad nauseum every free second I had for about a week will doing pt treatments with just stem and heat pad and after 2 1/2 weeks I was back on the ice with a pair of core shorts and after about 4 skates I'm back to 100%

  8. Ok so here's my question then.... I've tried a 100/75 but the edges were uneven so it was hard to tell if the bite was too much or sufficient... It was "grabby" but this could easily have been the unevenness of the edges. If it turns out that 100\75 does have just a bit more bite than I want, what other profile would you suggest? Like I said, I want to get a set of runners done 100/75 (again) and a second set a little tamer....

This is a lot easier to accomplish if you have taken a long time off v.s.when you are on the ice almost daily. If a deeper hollow is what you are used to (and especially if you keep good, fresh edges on your skates) then you have to be willing to go for quite a while skating on what "feels like" dull skates.

I started slowly bummed up from 3/8 to 7/16 to 1/2 and so for everytime I got them sharpened best move I ever made

  9. To be honest, someone at 314 lb skating on the DEEPEST FBV...and I ask this in the most non-insulting way...you aren't a good skater, are you? Because it sounds like you are on a training wheels hollow (going with deep hollow for stability)

Remember, if you weigh a lot, you don't need that much of a hollow. Make the shift to a shallower hollow...every time you get your skates sharpened. Once you feel like you can't make a turn without blowing out, scale back to the previous hollow. But work on your skating and get off that 100/75!

What he said...... Skated on 3/8 from the time I started at 4 till I was 18. I stopped playing for a few years and when I came back I did what JR recommended you do. I now skate on 1" and haven't felt better on the ice and I was always a good skater, it's almost effortless

  10. My brother. Self taught guitar player. I actually thought there was a second player in the shadows until the closeup on his hands. Not sure if this is an original song. Sounds like it could be a Paul Simon song. From the AMP Festival in Nova Scoita in 2009.

Anyway to get more of the stuff hes done? I really enjoyed that, I've always been fascinated by musicians that play like that. A few years ago I watched a guy on one of the late shows that had about a 2 dozen pedals to some kind of looper that he could control with his feet and he went through and created loops with the different pedals and crap to give him a backing beat then played his tune. I think he took longer getting the loops going before he played the song then the actual song itself but it was a good performance....

  11. Moving things along, I got this variation the other day on "do you rent helmets?" "do you rent hockey sticks?" "sorry, no."

And also, after way too many years in retail, as we approach another Christmas and gift giving, for those customers who want to know on December 14, if we could order in that special gift and get it for them before Christmas, Christmas has come on the same day on the calendar for the last two thousand and ten years!!

Currently working in retail and have to deal with this daily. We give a two week window for shipping to our store from the warehouse or transfers from other stores in case something happens along the way so we can cover our asses. Every single day I have people bitch at me about the two week window, things like I could walk there in less than two weeks crap like that. These would be the same people knocking down the door to speak to a manager because their item wasn't here in the 3-5 days it normally takes. What do you want me to do lady? Click my heels together, rub my belly and hope that I can shit out the product that you waited til 2 weeks before Christmas to come buy a hot ticket item? I don't think so, I don't get paid nearly enough to deal with your annoying ass.... End Rant

  12. Dear Mr. Owner's youngest son. If you're going to take over the company some day, it wouldn't hurt to start to LEARN THE F*%&ING PRODUCT LINE!!!

    Love,

    Your bottom feeding R&D Manager

p.s. - They also invented this little thing called a spell check a few years ago. You should try it out someday...

The downfall to working for a privately or family owned business

  13. Go into the shop the other day to pick up a list of things I need runners with a profile put on, a few twigs, and a set off shoulder pads. They didn't have the shoulder pads I wanted and couldn't order them in. I grab the other stuff I need and go to check out to find out they didn't charge me the $30 for the profile only for the $4.95 sharpening and gave me a bulk pack pricing on the 3 S19's I got that wouldn't be done anywhere online while also throwing in the two types of tape I use that can't be bought anywhere in the area other than there for nothing.

Don't think I could save the money I did there online, saved enough to almost cover the shoulder pads I had to order...

Edit..... I know it's off topic but after the recent debate I thought I'd post a quickie on the good things shops do when you're loyal to them

  14. Chippa's right... Sometimes you have to bite your toungue in situations like this... Tips and Lampliter, I would suggest you swallow your pride and talk to the decision makers and see what they suggest you work on.... It's a learning experience for you guys. You can't win them all right? Here's an oppurtunity for you guys to swallow your pride, learn from your mistakes and use it as motivation to improve and shove it in their faces. I don't know about everyone else but all the hours I spent in the gym and on the ice were because of the people that said I wasn't good enough or didn't have it, not the ones that did
