  1. TH doesn't have 17 year old employees sharpening skates. It's not allowed. All of our sharpeners have to go through a program in which I helped write. Obviously the goal is for them to follow it but just like anything else, if the dedication level isn't there no training program is going to help. I can only assume he was blending steel if he's going that short, and there's nothing wrong with going against the wheel in that instance. But doing it in a constant motion, going too fast and too hard isn't a good thing.
  2. More components = bigger shell. I'll have a teardown of it shortly.
  3. I didn't see them, but I understand what you are saying...
  4. There will be a new Ribcor stick in the fall. Once we are able to release that information, we will.

  8. And CSA/HECC has? For years VN was the standard til EPP came out in the early 90s...which is still the standard. Yeah, they've made progress... How is the 4500 still passing cert to this day? As long as CSA/HECC keeps on saying it's certified, Bauer will keep on making it. Virginia Tech's research put the onus on football helmet manufacturers to come up with better helmets. At the end of the day, you can't sit there and say that VT is doing something wrong and use CSA as your reasoning. Will be very curious to see what VT comes up with - an industry outsider without ulterior motives - looking in.
  9. A source had told me a few months back they were looking to do this. Good to see all mfgrs on board. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/23/sports/hockey/for-safety-hockey-helmets-going-under-microscope.html?ref=sports&_r=0
  10. *free sharpenings on Tuesday and Wednesday with the purchase of a Platinum rewards membership. $40 one-time fee. :)
  11. No. I meant Blackstone. They used to offer this in the catalogue years ago with an angle similar to BM's Customskateworks has been using it for the past month and can't out a dent on it. This angle is very solid - I can't see how it could be scored.
  12. Read the text before the pictures. I know pictures are bright and shiny and all, but still...
  13. Here is the new Butterfly Gauge - the squaring device is the same one that has been offered by Blackstone, however, the angle is what is different. It's a hardened aluminum that is score-proof and still works on similar squaring devices. The TefTop Puck is also new - 1/3 of the bottle should last a week for high volume use. You squirt it onto the pad and rub it onto the table.

  16. Pitch is determined in 1/32" increments. Profilers do not use degrees to describe pitch. So, a +1 is 1/32" lower in the front.
  17. It's a standard squaring device, but the magnetic angle is what is different. It'll work with existing ones.
  18. I get mine next week. It's not on the site yet.
  19. Same situation happened to me last fall. First game we went to a shootout. It went through the entire team - I was the newest player on the team so he ends up skipping me and goes twice...then it kept going, and his buddies all got two shootout attempts (the 3rd guy finally ended it.) Mind you, I hadn't paid to be in a league for like 10 years previous to that, and since it was my first time paying in so long, I naturally was pissed off. I played one more game for that team. Yep...I paid $400 for 2 games.
  20. The Deluxe is the one with the better optics. The hybrid has the Concept 3 top and cage bottom.
  21. Let's be honest here; it was a problem that was acknowledged by Dave Cruikshank amongst others. Just like any other brand which has made a change to a skate component over the years. It happened to some; not all, and they made changes to it so that it wouldn't happen again.
