  1. You can see his goal on the CBC website video highlights.
  2. I think he tends to be more candid about his aims rather than rolling out the stock answers that many athletes do, some see this as cocky, personally I like the straight talking - particularly if you can back it up as he has so far.
  3. a nice one handed backhand assist no less...
  4. Another interview with David Perron: http://mckeenshockey.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=748168
  5. Not in the lineup Vs the Sabres apparently. Sounds like a fun day at the office!!! David Perron is not in the lineup. “We talked to him about it,” Murray said. “There’s going to be moments (when he needs to sit and watch).” Perron had an interesting day Tuesday. He is living at a downtown hotel now and thought that practice was at the Mills. So he drove 25 minutes to practice only to find the place dark. There was traffic both ways on Highway 70, so by the time he got to Scottrade Center, the team already had its meetings. “We just had a session about how you handle yourself as a pro,” Murray said about a previous meeting with Perron, in which he told the rookie, “You’re a young guy and you’re going to have those moments, but it’s my job to remind you. Do everything the right way. Then he misses the meeting.” So Perron shows up in time to get dressed with the rest of the players, but then came the prank you knew was coming. “The guys cut his laces,” Murray said laughing. “He’s in there throwing his gear on, red in the face, sweat is pouring, goes to put his skates on and (snap).” The team busted up laughing. “We all knew his laces were cut,” D.J. King said. “He’s in a go-go-go situation. We’re all watching him as he’s lacing them and then all the sudden he’s like ‘Oh man.’ We started laughing and he said, ‘What’s funny.’ I said, ‘Your laces are cut, that’s what is funny.’” When I got done talking with King, he asked someone how long he had till the bus left. When he was told he had two minutes, I apologized for “talking his arm off.” Dan Hinote, standing nearby us, said: “Don’t talk his arm off. We need it.” From http://www.stltoday.com/blogs/sports-morni...-chicken-wings/
  6. I see on some of the Blues fans forum that he is being dubbed "Prince Perron".
  7. If you go to the blues official website and go into the write up on any game you will see a highlights link titled "Highlights 700k", this takes you into the NHL video gallery where you can view all the blues games, goals, saves and assists.
  8. Its in the recent CBA "Thou shalt not post on MSH"! :D
  9. How many goals, points, seasons etc does he need to get under his belt before he can have his white skates back!
  10. Congratulations David, it has been fun following the journey. Found these bits at http://www.stltoday.com/blogs/sports-morni...for-now-anyway/ How would you like Doug Weight saying this about you!: “The second one was just a great pickoff,” Weight said today. “It’s always the great players that can make those anticipation moves, where he knows what a guy is going to do before he does it. He picked it off, settled it down and laid it right on my stick. When you’re out here playing against the men in this league for your first stint, to go around the net and head fake a couple of guys and find me right on my tape, it says a lot about his poise.” Oh and the white skates story!: “Well, just to work as hard as I can,” he said. “If the team wins, obviously it’s going to be better.”Perron is already growing. He showed up at training camp with white skates and quickly learned that they weren’t going to fly with Murray. “He took his skates out of the bag and right away I had the trainers paint them black,” Murray said. ”He wasn’t going to be different than anybody else.” Perron noted that they were “partly white.” “I got here and I see my skates black . . . I was like ‘Oh, what happened there?’” Perron said. “I see that they spray-painted them. Andy talked to me about it the second day. I understand why. Keith Tkachuk and Paul Kariya wouldn’t be happy to see a rookie with white skates. Hopefully in my career, I’ll be able to wear my white skates again.”
  11. Should fine out later according to this: From : http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...D6?OpenDocument Dated 10/2 The deadline for turning in a 23-man NHL roster is today at 2 p.m., and the Blues figure to be posting theirs at the buzzer. The club made several moves Monday, sending forward Martin Kariya to the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League, putting forward Mike Glumac on waivers and releasing defenseman David Tanabe from his tryout contract. But as for whether the Blues will keep 19-year-old rookie forward David Perron or sign veteran forward Mike Johnson, that won't be known until this afternoon. "We just want to make sure everything is right ... it's not any more than that," Blues President John Davidson said. "There's no rush. We don't have to do anything until (Tuesday). We'll get this thing decided before the deadline." It appears the Blues are waiting to find out if Glumac and forward Petr Cajanek, who was placed on waivers Sunday, will clear. That answer will come by 11 a.m. today, giving the club three hours to make its decisions. Advertisement Whether or not Glumac and Cajanek are still with the organization could have implications on the Blues keeping Perron or signing Johnson. Perron, who would return to junior hockey if the Blues don't keep him, signed a three-year entry-level deal with the club this summer. He would be paid $787,000 if he makes the roster. Johnson, a free agent tryout, earned $1.9 million last season with Montreal. He is expected to command a lot less if he signs with the Blues. Though adding Perron and Johnson to the roster isn't cemented, the Blues have cleared the way for the two players by placing Glumac and Cajanek on waivers. Perron and Johnson would make 24 players on the Blues' roster, and the club could get down to the 23-man limit by placing defenseman Jay McKee (out four to six weeks with a broken foot) on the injured list. Perron was a long shot to make the team when he arrived at training camp three weeks ago, but the 26th pick in last June's draft has impressed the club's brass. A 6-foot, 180-pound winger, Perron saved his best performance for last, dishing out two eye-popping assists in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Chicago. Perron had one goal and those two assists in four exhibition games. His goal was Sept. 22 in a 3-2 win over Atlanta. "He had a very good game in Atlanta," Blues coach Andy Murray said. "... He was poor in Minnesota, so you wonder if the fatigue of the camp was catching up with him. Then he comes in (Saturday) and certainly turned in a solid effort." Perron, asked if he had done everything he could to make the Blues, said, "Yeah, I guess so. We'll see what's going to happen. I came in with the right attitude and the guys around me helped me a lot."
  12. Coaches at the NHL level are experienced enough to make an assessment that is not swayed by one mistake and likewise one highlight. Personally I prefer the Messier attitude - if we screw up and let one in, no problem we will just get two back. Power to David I say.
  13. Are the game highlights online anywhere? Had a quick look at nhl.com and cannot see them.
  14. Thanks Guys, loved the bit about his white skates turning black! This bit is cool..."Perron was in the first practice group today and so he was getting dressed when the second group went out to practice. “If the other group wasn’t going on the ice, (Perron) would still be out there an hour and 15 minutes later still shooting,” Murray said." from http://www.stltoday.com/blogs/sports-morni...hootout-scorer/
  15. Could someone record it and post it somewhere to save me staying up until 3 in the morning!! Cheers
  16. Ladies and Gentlemen place your bids please!!!! http://cgi.ebay.ca/David-Perron-GAME-WORN-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  17. Yes, the goal was a beauty as was the assist on the Turris goal.
  18. Perhaps this is the conversation that was going on in the picture above.... The coach's disapproval and glare was clearly focused on first-line winger David Perron in the opening game. Perron's feisty play resulted in a needless roughing penalty in the first period and he was benched. Sutter indicated he will slot Perron back on a line with John Tavares and Kyle Turris. But he'll be keeping a close watch on team discipline. "I told [Perron] on the ice [at Tuesday's practice] there are things you have to be willing to accept and do when you come to this level," Sutter said. "You can't be on any different page from anyone else in the dressing room. Everyone has to be on the same page. And it doesn't matter who you are. You have to be held accountable for your actions. "We had a little chit chat about that. And when adversity hits you, you better be ready to deal. He's going to go back in. "He wants to be a leader. But wanting it and doing it are two different things. He's got to show us he can do it." Source http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/sp...2b9&k=36706 Simon
  19. Looks like the same visor that everybody uses in the CHL. Which is? Please.
  20. More on the Perron story: http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/spo...493&k=18383
  21. I think in some circles "white skates" could be seen as a "look at me" statement which some might consider anti the team ethic and attention seeking. It might be suggested that any player lets his skills (or other assets) stand out rather than having flashy skates.
  22. Know Your Prosects - David Perron by Chris DeGroat // June 26th, 2007 With their third and final pick in the first round, the Blues selected David Perron out of the QMJHL. What makes Perron a little unique in this draft is that he just finished up his first year of major junior hockey… and he’s already 19 years old. Next season will likely be Perron’s last year in at the junior level, so we should be seeing him in the AHL a year sooner than most players drafted last weekend. RANKINGS TSN: 17 Central Scouting: 10 NA ISS: 15 Red Line: 58 McKeen’s: 32 Hockey News: 31 TSN.ca With 39 goals in 70 games, first year QMJHLer David Perron helped lead his team to the league championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup and turned an awful lot of heads in the process. But the fact he burst onto the scene, virtually out of nowhere, to accomplish this in his rookie season has some scouts reserving judgment. He wasn’t even on the radar screen last year, playing minor hockey in his first NHL draft year, so some wonder if he’s a one-hit wonder. But he exhibited skill and smarts and a real ability to be a natural finisher. A team that likes him could step up and take Perron early - at least one team has him in their top 10 but some others see him as a borderline first rounder. Central Scouting A hard working skilled forward. Is very smart defensively and forces the play with his tenacious fore-checking. His quick stick and quick hands often catch defenders by surprise. Is heads up with the puck and makes impressive passes through traffic. Needs to improve the effectiveness of his body checking. Plays with a lot of energy, but his skating sometimes diminishes at the end of a shift. Led all QMJHL rookies in goal scoring (39), plus/minus (+37) and was second in points (83) during the 2006-07 regular season. ISS One of the biggest surprises in the Quebec league this year had to be the play of Lewiston RW David Perron. Went through last year’s NHL draft without being selected, which is not likely to happen again. Perron loves to dangle and is arguably one of the most skilled players available in the 2007 NHL draft. Will cheat on the offensive side of the puck and come back late into D zone, but certainly has offensive skills required to play at the next level. McKeen’s 05/30/2007 - Posseses slick wheels and elusive moves with the puck, however his first few strides need work .. boasts the stickhandling ability and the overall speed to get past a defender on the outside or inside for that matter .. loves to try and beat a checker one-on-one .. will go in to the holes, but doesn’t generally park himself there .. doesn’t always use his linemates effectively and can be guilty of over stickhandling in traffic – something he likely won’t get away with in the pros .. showed some defensive awareness sliding back to the point when a defender pinches .. at his best when he keeps his feet moving and out works the opponent .. a regular on the powerplay a year older than most in the draft, although this was his rookie season in the QMJHL. (4gp, 1-2-3) 05/17/2007 - A smooth skating, offensively gifted player .. silky touch with the puck is among the most elite in the league .. his creative, unconventional style shows he is a thinking player who displays reactions that opponents are unsuspecting of .. he is a good skater with good balance however, he lacks breakout speed or an adequate first step .. for this reason, he cannot beat defensemen in situations when he is outnumbered .. compensates by slowing down the game with his range of other offensive abilities .. not timid to show frustration visibly, and mental game could be much stronger .. little pokes and slashes throw him off .. plays with emotion, and when channeled with his skill, he will be an even greater threat .. will need to get stronger to set up shop in front of the net, as he is pushed around too easily .. plays the point on the powerplay and has a great sense of how to move the puck .. great defensive effort to keep the puck in at the blueline, but not widely recognized for his defensive prowess, as indicated in his lack of time on the penalty kill .. uses body language such as head and shoulder fakes to challenge forecheckers .. quick and accurate release catches opponent’s off-guard and jumps on loose pucks instantly .. hockey sense gives him an immediate advantage over other players moving up the ranks, but still has much work to do. NHL Draft Buzz This second year draft eligible, first year QMJHL’er came out of Quebec’s woodwork after playing Junior AAA with the St. Jerome Panthers of the QJAHL last year .. patterns his game after favorite player, Alex Kovalev, and it shows as his controlled skating stride and talented stickhandling strike a resemblance .. has amazing hand eye coordination and reaction that allows him to deflect pucks that most could not .. a stickhandling wizard who is just a notch below Kane .. disregard all the cliché’s there are about offensive Q forwards, as Perron is not a soft player .. a strong hitter who does not go out of his way to be a checker, but will always finish his checks surprisingly hard and loud if its his responsibility/player to follow through on .. does not shy away from board work, albeit he routinely gets knocked off the puck easily .. not a perimeter player at all .. parks himself near the front of the net, and is a bit of a pain as he jams and hacks at the goalie for loose rebounds .. plays with Faubert and Courcelles .. comes back and helps his defenseman almost acting like a centerman at times .. plays the boards and slot in his own zone with confidence .. made a great diving play to stop a glorious offensive chance against that most players with his talent would not bother trying .. a judicious skater who does not skate hard the entire shift .. is not an explosive skater, and does not have great top end speed, but incorporates a lot of stops and starts to throw off defenders .. still, a good skater who doesn’t lose speed when the puck is on his stick, which is important for starting rushes .. a patiently smart player who employs many tricks to control the play in the offensive zone .. his most imminent flaws are his older age and inconsistency .. some games he dominates and some games he is content with blending in .. Perron is a guy who needs to learn how to be an offensive leader every night, but his offensive gifts are interesting to say the least.
