  1. i saw the ca5 at my lhs. they are very light and have great ventilation.
  2. there are reviews on here reporting that alkali pants run small and to size up one compared to what you would normally wear with other brands. so you may need xxl, which would be a longer pant i believe. i think i remember justin saying to size up too, but i could be wrong.
  3. Kovie, can you post pics of how you mounted - I'm particularly interested in where the rivets are located. Also, what size grafs and what size frame did you use? Thanks Kovie, can you post pics of how you mounted - I'm particularly interested in where the rivets are located. Also, what size grafs and what size frame did you use? Thanks
  4. thanks for the input. based on your experience and from some others, i'm not going to risk the conversion. i wish i could still buy the old grafs with the plastic outsole.
  5. did the g35s have the texalite outsole? why did you retire them? the reason i'm asking is because i've always wanted to do some 703's but have heard the texalite outsole is not good for inline conversion.
  6. Only you could answer that. Do you have extra length left?
  7. Does Alkali have any future plans on making shin guards or elbow pads? I know many people would love inline specific protection gear. Ice gear is just too hot. I would love some highly ventilated shin pads, gloves and elbow pads. Not just moisture wicking materials but lots of ventilation holes. Inline skating is slower and inline pucks weigh less and carry less momentum, therefore we don’t need as much protection. I’ve been bruised on my shins from blocking ice shots many times but never once for inline because the pucks are so light they just don’t carry the same amount of energy/momentum. I am already in love with my CA9 girdle. I wish there was other gear I could get that is inline specific. My ice gear is just too hot and unnecessary for inline.
  8. thanks! i saw the ca5's at my lhs and they were really breathable. i liked them a lot but unfortunately they don't carry any of your other pants. i'm going to order some. thanks again.
  9. Justin, can you comment on which of your pant models is the most breathable? I don't care about durability, I just want the coolest pant on the market. Thanks
  10. used my new Alkali CA9 jock/girdle last night and loved it. its sort of a cross between girdle and jock - very lightweight and much cooler than traditional girdle. i don't play as aggressively as i used to so i don't need that much protection. i wish the hip pad was oriented a little differently (maybe my hip joint is located weird compared to my waistline) but overall i am very happy because i needed a cooler alternative to the traditional girdle but with some hip protection. Justin: i saw the CA5 pants at my local store today and was really impressed by their breathability. They don't carry the CA3, CA7 or CA9 though. What is your most breathable/coolest pants?
  11. based on what i'm reading, it sounds like the heat molding will help a lot with adjusting to the volume of the foot, but not so much the width. is that accurate? thanks for your help.
  12. Justin, if your skate solves width problems I'd be really happy. Im skeptical however for two reasons which is why I'm hesitant to purchase. 1) if the width can truly vary from c to ee, then why do you state the fit is for a wide forefoot? 2) how can the width get smaller since the outsole is rigid and wont change during heat molding? Which models will accommodate any width from c to ee? Thanks for your support on this site. Edit: I fit a graf 703 narrow (c width) almost perfectly except I could use slightly more heel width and volume. This has been the best retail fit I have found. Would your skate accommodate my feet based on that description?
  13. It would take a lot of work and skill as a fabricator. But we're not talking rocket science. It is definitely possible...but not worth the effort IMO.
  14. skate height doesn't really change skating dynamics. however i don't like frames that put you really high off the ground, because the higher up you are, the less stable you are (at your ankle) - simple physics. you will notice a difference in skating dynamics from different skate pitch and wheel base.
  15. if rx60's fit you, it sounds like the alkali skates will not
  16. sweet! please keep us informed of how the chassis mounting and outsole holds up. there were reports of the texalite outsole not holding up well to inline conversions. can you post a closeup picture of the mount (bottom of boot)? i have a pair of 703 texalite that i would love to convert but i have been worried about the uneven contour of the outsole.
  17. awesome. i haven't skated too much in them because i mainly play ice, but they are great skates and by far the lightest inline skates i have ever owned - lighter than any of the stock skates - the 72mm wheels up front help with that and the skate with mag frame is ridiculously light. i just wish i had put sprungs on them instead. i'm going to go back to sprungs so i'll be selling these since i am nervous about putting a 3rd set of holes in them. stupid me. size 8C if anyone interested.
  18. i was going to use these for ice but i decided to have these converted a few weeks ago to sub in an inline game. ccm u+ pro reloaded with mission magnesium 80-80-72-72 hi-lo (the real hilo!). they are pretty light for inline skates. i've been meaning to weigh them at work just to see. feels like a heavy pair of ice skates.
  19. i had this exact same question a few pages back of this thread. i was considering converting some 703s. sprungster and someone else said it would be fine, but i am hesitant - especially since the recent posts about the new graf outsole not lasting long with inline chassis. 7 series grafs are too expensive for me to gamble with.
  20. keith, i think those are it. my ice skates are graf 703 and look identical to those except for the airnet lining. did those grafs have the fake carbon fiber looking "felt" exposed at the inner part of the outsole? i was thinking of getting another pair of grafs and another pair of sprungs. did all of your bolts or rivets go into the clear plastic (strong) part of the outsole or did some have to go in the weaker inner part (the part where there is no clear plastic outsole? THANKS!
  21. has anyone mounted the newer graf skates? i don't know about the older graf models (with the white plastic outsole) but the newer models have outsoles that are not flat on the bottom. their is a ridge around the perimeter of the skate that is used for mounting the holder. problem is that inline chassis' mount closer to the inside of the outsole. the unevenness of the outsole makes me wonder if an inline chassis can be mounted easily.
  22. it will work fine. but, realize that on ice the boots will be stressed more since you can cut so much harder. so you may want to make sure the inline skates are stiff enough for you. also, many inline skates have vents in the toe caps. you might find your toes numb at the colder rinks.
