  1. Picked up a couple of S17's on eBay, Jordan Staal and Gary Roberts.

Both are 'true' S17's as far as I can gather (both have an eliptical taper) and feel exactly the same, but for or some reason the Jordan Staal S17 has 'D 3 8' on the underside of the shaft and the graphics are spaced differently on both sticks. Both sticks were from the same seller, but the Jordan Staal S17 was marked 'Custom' on the auction. Do any of the pros on here know what these numbers mean?

  2. I don't know what the cutoff is for the size holder on the two skates... but I'm guessing that the Vapor got the larger holder because it is a wide width while the Flexlite cutoff was the next size up. Oddly enough the Flexlites would be the wider skate.

I know with older Bauer skates a 10.5D on a wider skate model* or wide width would be a 296 but they changed that for some reason with the one95 and the new Supreme line.. probably a holdover from the one90 line.

    *To clarify, a one95 is 10.5D should be a 296 holder but a Vapor 10.5D should be 288, while a Vapor 10.5EE should be 296.

actually I was wrong.. both are 280.

    oops <_<

  3. Islanders pro stock, they had swiss cheese palms, about 1.25" more on the cuff and a bit of funk to them. Now with the help of Peaches Pro Repair, they have some new Eagle palms and shorter cuffs. They still have some funk, the leather is beat up a bit on corners and edges and the logos are partially gone. They have some years of play left in them though. Wish I would have taken a before and after shot.

I think I am SOL on the Eagle Z-airs though.

Will peaches repalm using eagle palms or did you just have some lying around?

  4. To keep my Velocity's shining I remove them and buff them on my bench grinder prior to each sharpening. Doesn't take too long, maybe 5-7 minutes per skate. Next, I'm lucky enough to be able to sharpen my own skates at home. I finish the edge with the miracle stone being careful to hone as little of the steel as needed. They end up looking almost new after the reinstall. The MS will scratch it a little but it's not really noticeable from arms length and it buffs out next time I sharpen.

I know it sounds like a lot of work but SS holds an edge so well I go about 15-20 skates between sharpenings. Skating 3-4 times a week I only have to do it once a month or so.

could you explain that a little more? what tools etc. never buffed anything before and I'd love to restore the mirror finish after some jackass destroyed it :(
