  1. HAHAHA! Nice job on that. Even I got a laugh out of that. B) Glad you found it humourous. I'm sure you're a good guy, I have trust in p.diddy aka darkstar, but you were definitely coming off as a douche... Might want to work on that man. ;) Regardless, welcome to the forum. Believe me, I can understand where you're coming from but sometimes you have to be careful how you word things, especially in written form. Yeah, I realize I do have a tendency to come off that way. I've been told I'm hard to read, that my humor is just a bit too dry. Something else to add to the list of things I need to work on. I will prioritize it to #2 on the list, directly behind dumping the bodies of the dead hookers in my trunk.
  2. +1 Since you do know what they should look for, why dont you enlighten your customers on it? That way they will know what to expect from you and other professionals. If you take the time to help customers understand(i.e. Customer Service) I guarantee it will drive more business for you in the long run. Actually, I DID try to explain to her, (and other customers who wish to know) how to check their skates after a sharpening, (I.E. checking level, making sure the hollow is near what they asked for, making sure the hollow gets both edges, checking to see there isn't one strong and one weak edge, etc...) but it is very difficult to communicate to someone that really doesn't speak your language. I understand that in my first post I made it seem like I blew the lady off, but that wasn't the case.

  4. So other than the way they speak, what else do you have against Asians? Just curious. Who said I had anything against them, including the way they speak? It was just an observation, one that is obvious to anyone who has been in my shop during the weekend. The part I thought was amusing was that she was apeing what she had seen someone do, without any knowledge of how/what she was doing. Before anyone comments that I noted she had "checked" her edges in front of me, I would like to point out that I have no problem at anyone checking thier edges in front of me, provided they know what they are looking for. I know I turn out a quality hollow, and encourage people to check them. No matter who you are, how good a sharpener you are, or how long you have been doing it, sometimes people make mistakes. Except for me of course....
  5. I had just sharpened a pair of figure skates for a customer this weekend. After handing her the finished skates, she proceeded to pore over them like they held a clue to a long lost treasure or something. The light test, looking down the hollow, the whole nine yards. Right in front of me. Now, this was not a customer who had any idea about skating. The reason I know this is because she made that abundantly clear when I asked her how she would like her skates cut. I had gotten some non-sensical answer along the lines of, "She's 7 years old" or something like that, in broken English of course. When I asked her what she was looking for, she told me she sees her daughter's skating coach do this to skates sometimes. Since she hadn't answered my question, I repeated it. Her response? "I not sure, what should I rook for? They shiny." (You guessed it, she's Asian. Big surprise for my shop) At that point I just looked at her like she had just shit her pants, and went to get myself some lunch. Gotta love those chicken wraps, eh Pete?
  6. Helmet-Mission Intake Incredibly light and comfy. Gloves- Custom Eagle X70is awesome fit for my small doll hands. Shins- 14" Mission Matrix eh. so so, but not buying new ones. Elbows- Franklin recreational rollerblading elbow pads. Laugh all you want, but they are so light and don't hamper my movement AT ALL!! Shoulders- NAH!! Girdle- Graf SO light, but protective. Feels like an inline girdle, but stops the ice puck, without me feeling it. Of course the beer leaguers I play against aren't exactly bringing the heat. Skates- Bauer 8090 ice/Mission 9500 inline. Bauers are light and durable, Mission 9500 are best skates I ever owned. Hands down. Sticks- NBH Vapor 40 87 Flex P91- Staal pattern good flex and great shot on ice.. don't really care for my inline shot with it. Good puck feel though. Easton Stealth CNT 85 Flex Drury Pattern Great shooters stick. Easton Bill Guerin Synergy SL pro-stock I love this stick. Wish I had two more of the same :( Sher-wood RM9 95 flex Regher Pattern (same as Easton Drury) Real inexpensive stick, but performs REALLY well. I like it. Good puck feel and decent shot. TPS Genesis shaft with Drury Z-Carbon blade good knock-around stick.
