I know people with lacebite problems go outside in for the top few eyelets. Apparently outside in brings the sides of the skates in more while inside out brings the tongue in more.

Marsblades holders for ice hockey, anyone try these things?
I would love too try these but it would be a costly experiment at this point, so I would have to hear from a few guys who love them inorder to take the plunge.

I've found myself buying more and more of their steel these days because it appears to be one of the only options that works with both the old Tuuk and PowerFly holders. I had an old pair sitting around and totally forgot I had it so threw it on my skates.
I also used my Quad 0 last night to compare. I still think that profile has huge advantages in stability and straight line skating, but I find myself having trouble doing mohawk-type maneuvers because the heel is so flat. 10' is wonderful but I don't play offense often - more so defense. I've found the 9/10/11 to be a good balance between the 10' and Quad 0 and feels very natural. I do believe the 9/10/11 has slightly more forward pitch than the Quad 0. Comparatively, the Quad 0 feels very neutral.
Ya I like the pitch as well on my current Zuperiors over my Quad profiles.
Just for clarification, the Quad 0.5 (8-10-12-14) is different than a Quad 0 (6-9-11-13).
Cheers,

I have since switched to at the 9/10/11' triple that comes standard on Bladetech. I quite like it. Might be my favorite so far.
I know the Quad 0.5 jumps by 2 between zones (8-10-12-14) as apposed to 3 on the normal quads (ie. 6-9-12-15). I think the goal of the elipse was to focus on smoother transitions between the various radii..
9-10-11' does sound cool thou, didn't know that was out there.

I know that True said their SVH custom skate can make skates feel sharper bc of the fit and stiffness. So they suggest you may have to drop the sharpen etc. In your case the opposite is probably true.

What did you end up getting?

Prosharp did not clearly differentiate between pitch and pivot point in some of their online content. They even listed "-20mm" as pitch.
Thanks to ChatGPT, I now understand the difference between pitch and pivot point.
What is the pitch on a Zuperior profile? Have you ever heard of anyone using that pitch on a Quad profile?
Am I chasing a unicorn by looking for this combination? If I change the pitch on a Quad profile, will my skates spontaneously combust?

Zuperior M vs. Quad 1 – Thoughts on Pitch and Performance
I love the explosive first step I get with the Zuperior M due to its increased pitch—it really helps with acceleration. However, at times, it feels like I’m gliding on skis, which can be a bit unsettling. That said, the speed and quick starts are excellent.
The Quad 1 has a more neutral pitch, making it well-balanced for most situations. However, I feel like my first step lacks that extra pop. If I want to accelerate quickly, I almost have to go straight into a crossover—if that makes sense. Once I reach a good speed, it feels solid, and I find I have more agility compared to the Zuperior.
Has anyone tried increasing the pitch on the Quad profile? Would that help with acceleration, or am I missing something?
One thing that confuses me: both profiles are listed with a -20mm pitch, yet Zuperior is described as having more pitch, while the Quad is labeled as neutral. Does anyone know why that is?
-
Just a thought: By returning to a single profile, you might be rediscovering skating moves you've performed for decades off the heel of your skates. These same moves likely don't work as well with the larger heels found on some of the newer profiles.

True Hockey recommends sharpening your skates in the 3/4, 7/8, or 1-inch range if you're using a profile like Quad or Zup.
If you try that and still hate them, well... fair enough.

Kids will wear what we tell them.
For us adults it is a lot like using a mouthguard, if it is not comfortable people just stop using them. The though of wearing a scarf while playing sounds kinda bad etc.
Maybe it is not that bad. If they have one with holes for air flow I would probably start there first. Free product idea for you guys if you want.

Like I said, if you are that curious and want to know what happened there are many articles and threads online about it. Even a video if you dare to watch.
Fair enough. Not going to watch that video thou.
So what neck brace has the best ventilation because if it is uncomfortable we will all stop wearing it after a few tries.

1 hour ago, Sniper9 said:It's called a preface. And the second quote was a line added in a response that actually had input about neck guards for the majority of the post, unlike yours.
One of the functions of a preface is to explain WHY you are writing.
I can't ask about the why. Got it.
Note: There is a search function. Type in 'Neck guards'. Just don't tell anyone why you are searching for neck guards because it is apparently not important.

Or just watch it yourself if you really actually think there's a chance another player intentionally murdered another while playing. Now let's get back to talking about neck guards. If you want a conversation about the incident start another topic or go on Reddit.
The only reason we are talking about neck guards is because of what happened.
Very first line in the post: "Terrible tragedy concerning Adam Johnson."
Another quote: "This tragedy appears to have been avoidable from what I saw, I've never seen anyone's leg naturally extend how his did but that's just my opinion."

Didn't see it but I heard it was basicly deliberate, some meat head doing something stupid..
Can anyone comment

So, $200-ish for one of those or $179 from prostockhockeysticks.com. It's a no brainer.
Damn.. nice.
That is a no brainer.

What is the custom going for Canadian, I'm seeing $679, is that right?
I hear the custom helmet is bigger than the retail version? Is that true?

I've never had interest in those generic brands that cost as much or more than what I'd normally pay for sticks I know I already like.
What stick do you use?

10 hours ago, stick9 said:Custom wheels and knock off twigs, come on.... 😁
You don't need to pay full retail for sticks and you don't need to go to a smaller company to save money. The resale market and pro-stock markets are decent enough.
Right now there are 16 listings on sideline that meet my exact specs. All are under $300US, that's $415 for you north of the boarder folks. In a pinch I'll grab a pro-stock off HSM for $210US.
The question is, if you can afford custom skates why are you nickel and diming
What does resale mean?
-
I'm examining the lesser-known companies producing hockey sticks priced under $300 Canadian. Their mid-flex sticks can genuinely compete with the top-tier mid-flex sticks from established brands. If you prefer mid-flex, you're in good hands.
On the other hand, replicating low-kick and hybrid sticks is challenging due to the extensive technology and patents involved. If you favor those types of sticks, you're somewhat limited to the major brands.
It's tough for me to rationalize paying $429 for a mid-flex stick when there are excellent, more affordable alternatives available.

I've noticed some guys cutting out some bars on their face cages. I've noticed some guys will go after the vertical bars, some will go after the horizontal.
I wanted to hear from guys that have tried it and other people's thoughts about it as well. Thought's on safety vs improved vision etc. Or is there a product that does it all the right way?

4 hours ago, nutters said:You said most people will be buying customs in 10 years, and I disagreed. Beer leaguers aren't going to triple their skate budget for whatever reason.
No league I play in, regardless of skill level, has anyone in customs. There is barely anyone in top tier skates that came out in the last 10 years either.
However, I wouldn't call someone else triggered then send off the kind words you did either in a private message.
Enjoy playing with your wood stick.

4 hours ago, nutters said:No they won't. People will pay what they're comfortable with and if their cap is $400, $550, etc then that's it. Most don't want to go through the hassle, wait and potential disappointment of them not being perfect.
But keep flexing in your flex thread.
You do know this is a site about hockey equipment right?
I've never seen someone get triggered over $1600 Canadian but has no problem with $550..
Would you like me to post about how excited I am buying $550 skates? Would that make you happy? I did that and they hurt my feet, which I thought was normal, till I bought the custom SVH, which was the point of the thread.
You have a great day..

6 hours ago, pgeorgan said:"If you can afford something like True SVH skates why would you bother getting off the shelf skates?"
Easy. Because they don't offer me any advantage over my current retail Bauer skates. Certainly not a 2x one.
How do you know if you have never tried it? Because that is kinda how I thought then I tried it and just shook my head on the difference btw the two.
It is only a matter of time as custom becomes more the norm. Be sure to post back in ten years after you try them:)
CCM 920 helmet

My friend and I bought this helmet at the same time, and we both agree—it’s a game changer when it comes to ventilation. I’ve worn it to several stick and puck sessions now, usually just with gloves and a helmet, and I’ve noticed I sweat about half as much as I did with my old CCM 910. It really stands out. Plus, since the helmet adjusts for both length and width, the fit is noticeably better than the 910 it's replacing.
