  1. Anyone ever heard of, or use Stick Syrup?  It's a spray on wax (or wax alternative?).  My teammate had it last game and it caught my attention.... honestly it smelled like maple syrup from across the rink so there was no way to avoid it 😂  Being a maple syrup lover I had to order a can for myself to test it out, should be here soon.  From what I could tell, it's a spray that stays tacky, it's supposed to repel water like wax but give a sticker finish for better puck control.  I normally use Howies wax so I'm curious to see how this compares.  It's a little more expensive than Howies (ok maybe double) but only time will tell how long a can lasts vs a tin of wax.  Once I get the spray and test it out I'll report back.  Also pretty sure they're based in MA not far from Boston so maybe we can get them to come to Summer Jam.

Thanks for this, but am I to understand the titanium cage will now be painted? Is there not just a raw finish like the reakt that I don’t have to worry about chipping and looking like shit halfway through the season?

I was thinking the "3" is the Titanium one which is the lightweight model, looks to be the same shape as the "2" which looks a lot like the current "Profile III" or even the re-shaped "profile II", but then again it's hard to tell when you're not comparing side by side (esp when factoring in cage size, a medium will always look different than a large and I can't tell what sizes they were wearing in the video).  I'm curious to see them in person and compare side by side, until then I did find another OG Profile II for a steal on SLS so at least I'm covered for a while lol.

  3. That blacked out one is damn sexy.  I agree with Sniper9, the red in the FT6 Pro is way better than the FT4 Pro was... I'm guessing they did the FT4 so bold so it really stood out on TV, there was no mistaking what skate that was, even with a shot blocker on it most times, which I'm sure helped their marketing, but man it's a tough look for us beer leaguers to pull off.

On the other hand, I’ve used a variety of cages with different helmets and I barely, if ever, notice the difference. I totally believe people when they get all picky about bar shape and face distance, but I just don’t notice it.

I'm 100% honest when I say I'm vain and the cage has to pass the mirror test 😂 Also the thing for me, and why I started wearing the Profile II a ways back, was the fit.  In CCM I was between a medium and a large, had to wear a large since the medium was too short but had to flip the top clips and it still just looked massive, with the Profile II the large is the perfect height for me, so when they tweak the shape it always slightly changes the fit and I get super picky.

Interesting. I used a Profile II before switching to a Reakt and do remember preferring the Profile’s ‘profile’ but the reakt’s weight savings was too much to ignore. Had to move up in size with the reakt so it was long enough on my face and then bent it a bit so it fit my helmet. Patiently waiting for the updated titanium cage Bauer is supposed to be releasing in the Profile shape

Very soon. Super pumped for it to release in the i2 version (oreo)

I'm curious if the new one is actually Titanium or just Titanium colored like the Profile III, the one I have was Titanium colored but is definitely NOT titanium lol, makes sense why the price was the same as the other colors.  Color wise I'm fine with the titanium, the i2 with the white inside, or the silver (which is more grey), I don't care for the all black, that one stands out for me.  Also weight wise, I notice the lightness of the Reakt when I'm holding it but once I put it on and get on the ice I don't notice any difference whatsoever, the difference in weight is so minimal in reality.

  6. I remember reading about the different Profile cages in various topics but couldn't find where it discussed the differences in profile II cages so here goes:

I've used Profile II cages for a long time, have had probably 6 or 7 over the years, also tried various CCM cages, an FV1 bubble, a Profile III, and a Reakt Ti cage (not to mention the old Jofa bubble cages and Itechs I had in the 90's), but the Profile II has always been my favorite since the large size fits my face the best and I like the shape and how it looks.  In one thread discussing cages someone mentioned they changed the shape somewhere along the line, well I just learned whoever said that was 100% correct.  My guess is somewhere between 2017 and 2022 is when the change occurred (my newest cage had a 2017 sticker and the brand new one I just got has a 2022 sticker and is very different).  The "new" Profile II cage is a little shorter and extends away from the face much more, it's more similar to the Profile III shape, and is more pronounced when the helmet and cage are on, I personally hate it.  The "new" Profile II also has flatter bars similar to the Profile III, the old round ones never bothered me so I don't see any benefit in this.  Compared to the Reakt, the Profile III is a similar shape but a little boxier, the Reakt curves closest to the face but is shorter/smaller than the OG Profile II which has the best combination of curve and size imo.

Not sure if anyone else cares but I'm a little razy when it comes to some stuff lol, I tried to get some side by side shots for comparison... left to right is OG Profile II, "new" Profile II, Profile III, Reakt Ti:

    OG vs New Profile II:

New one on red 910, OG one on white 910:

So that's all I have, not much of a question other than observations.  So if anyone has a hook uo on OG Profile II's send them my way lol, I have a new one and a Profile II I'm never going to use (currently going to give the Reakt another try).

  7. I just saw that with custom orders you have the option to get LS or Powerfly, I'm guessing many custom users aren't sold on the new holder just yet so they want to make sure they're happy.

Also noticed they dropped the Tuuk branding on the holder, or maybe it's just smaller and hidden now? Personally I think if they dropped the branding completely it would be a big mistake, kind of like when CCM dropped the Tacks model name.

  8. I had a pro stock one I got for under $200 but, unfortunately, found out they run noticeably smaller than the 910's which share the same shell (I'm a small 910 and have it adjusted about half way, in the Tacks X I was all the way out as big as it could go and barely squeezed in).  I tried mine out and squeezed into it for one skate and it felt great as far as weight and airflow, I just wish It was a little bit bigger (I had the hex pattern pressed onto my head for quite some time afterwards 🤣).  I'd still love one but most I see are in the $250+ range which is more than I'm willing to spend, I'll stick to my 910's for now.

  9. The Tacks line has D3O right on the inside of the plastic shell dead center on the knee.  Personally I felt it did nothing when I used some Super Tacks shins 4ish years ago.  The biggest issue with modern retail shins is the lack of actual padding around the knee on the liner, the donut area is seriously lacking compared to how they made them some 30 years ago and how pro stock pads are.  Once I switched to pro stock pads with the old school liners I never had an issue anymore, the extra thick padding on the donut makes a world of difference.  If it were me and I wanted to add more knee protection I'd find an old set of pro stock liners, or maybe just a set of old retail liners, and make that donut thicker with a nice dense foam.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve tried multiple flex points all the way down to 70 flex and I feel I have way more control receiving passes, making passes, and stick-handling with the higher flex. I also find it better for poke checks and puck battles.

On the other hand, I’ve never found a curve I like as much as the P90TM.

CCM has created quite the dilemma for me. Would love more opinions/suggestions from others - I have a week until it’s released haha!

What do you mean "multiple flex points all the way down to 70"?  Generally, the more you cut the stiffer the stick will feel, not the opposite, so the longer the stick the lower the flex.  Not sure if that's what you mean but that's how it sounds, also your first post mentioned cutting a 95 flex down to the height of an 85 flex, which seemed odd since the height of each would be the same unless one was an extended version.

Either way, if I were in your shoes I'd keep the curve and go with the lower flex.  I love the P90TM and have gone back and forth between that and a P28 and the P90TM wins it for me, such a great curve, just wish it were easier to find pro stock and sellers knew the difference between P90TM, P90, and P90T since they're definitely not the same lol.

  11. You're like a month too late lol, I had a PP9k FS for a while that I practically gave away finally.  If you're not opposed to a Warrior shell, PSH has a bunch.  Most of the ones I have fit slightly wider than CCM but the latest one I got from a different seller (Londsonsports on SLS) was a little smaller/narrower, so it's a crapshoot.  They are girdle shells but they don't have the plastic kidney guards like the PP90/PP9K, honestly with modern girdles (of the last 20 years) I don't know how much those added guards do anyways.

I think that’s the best part. Elite-elite level NHL player with huge holes in his palms and colors in his gloves with paint markers he bought at Michaels. He clearly doesn’t care about aesthetics.

Also, knowing how he is, he prob knew it would piss a bunch of people off so went out of his way to make it look as bad as possible.

Yes I don’t want it to look like that especially him even less. I think I’ll just settle for the accents if he is the side effect.

I mean he's setting that bar pretty low, I'm pretty sure my 10 year old could manage to make a pair of gloves look better than that lol

  14. Maybe a paint marker?  Should be more durable than something like a Sharpie, but I've gotta say, any time I've seen gloves that people have blacked out branding/accents you can always tell.  Depending on where the accents are/size/shape, maybe just covering an area with pad-skinz in black might look better?

  15. Just be aware, the 910 and Vector 08 are both oval shaped, so if he has a round head shape they won't work for him (the 710 is round).  CCM is generally a little larger compared to Bauer, I'm a small in CCM and a medium in Bauer models, but I couldn't wear the 710 when I tried it since the round shape didn't work for my oval shaped head lol

https://padskinz.ca/product-category/palmskinz/ pad skins also make stuff for Pant striping and gloves as well, not just for goalie pads it's not insanely pretty, but if you take your time it can look nice, you could stich the material in i would space out the stitching though incase you need to replace it.

If you tried using this on the entire palm you'd have a super thick/stiff palm, it's great for small repairs but you wouldn't want too much of it on there.

  17. You'd have to re-palm the gloves and use a dyed material and yes it is very difficult to do, you have to remove the bindings and cut all the threading, then clone the shape and re-sew everything back together.  There are a few places that do this still, some are not so great at it and some are pretty good.  CPR (custom pre repair) is the pro level for this but impossible to get stuff done if you're not a pro since they're so backed up with work for NHL clubs, or you can check out ITR on instagram/facebook, he does some great work and has about a 2ish month turn around and some fair pricing (just a heads up, this sort of work is not cheap, we're talking prob $80-100 for a simple re-palm, much more if you also want fancy new gussets or some other custom overlays).

update, I bought the large Girdle shell, and a medium CCM Jetspeed girdle, the CCM fits over my medium pants ok with some overhang, hopefully there isnt much overhang with the girdle

A large shell on a med. girdle will definitely have overhang.  Pants are generally a bit bulkier as opposed to girdles (which fit closer to the body) so the same shell will be looser on a girdle as opposed to pants.

  19. Are you sure the clip is snapping over the posts 100%  It's a tough squeeze, I had to use a flat head to push it down hard enough, but once it snapped on it was super tight and is a PITA to get back off (I know b/c I had to remove them twice to get rivets tightened).  I know the first time I installed mine I thought they were on all th wway but I still had a little ways to go.
