  1. Its all about saving face.

I've had multiple people ask about the Krown 360 - I bet Warrior, Peranis & Hockey Money are loving this - they'll finally be able to get rid of those buckets that didn't sell and broke easily.

With the testing they've done - we haven't had time to examine their methods, but based on the short video ESPN had - to me it seems a little flawed. Looked the same as football testing, which we know is not the same as hockey, as hockey has much more linear impacts rather than straight on (the reason why Bauer & CCM have spent millions of dollars in R&D on protecting against linear impacts).

Its also interesting that helmets, with the same interiors are rated different with their shell being the only difference. Further what is the difference between their star ratings? Is something a high 1 star that was almost a 2, or was one a low 1 star that almost was not recommended? What do they constitute a 4 or 5 star helmet? Once we have those parameters than the companies can design a helmet that fits that mold, but again, would it be too heavy of a helmet and therefore cause whiplash issues, especially on those who do not have strong neck muscles?

Lastly, the video by ESPN is ridiculous - girl in a helmet that wasn't produced for several years before she bought it, then her cage is too large and has no jclips, and lastly, is she still using a helmet that she got a concussion in? Uhh talk about bad parenting. If I have children who play hockey, I'll be buying them a new helmet seasonly. You don't know what kind of fractures have happened in that helmet, and the constant expanding and contracting of the interior cannot be a good thing.

  2. Sticks must not be moving. On clearance in mn stores. Have never seen on in a HS or beer game.

Minnesota market is messed up in fairness though.

When I played in the cities I saw 1 or 2 people in the Mako 2 stick - once they went on clearance everyone had them.

You also may not notice the Stallion in a game live - its an all black stick with a little bit of yellow, looks very similar to Nexus & Stealth sticks.

  3. We just saw the line... the Surgeon 500 protection is incredible. Some of the lightest best fitting shoulders I've tried on, incredibly low profile. The elbow pads - I will be putting these on myself when we get them. I have had the Warrior Projekts for years (Blue ones) and those are by far my favorite elbows...these blow them out of the water. Incredibly comfortable.

  4. Do the improvements to the 1X skate make it a significantly better version of its predecessor? Or are they more incremental (ie NXG to MX3)? I'm asking because I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of MX3's (Vapor line is too narrow for me, even in EE width). But if the next version in the Supreme line will give the same evolutionary improvements as the 1X, I might consider waiting for that. Would that launch on the 18 month (Spring '16) with the sticks, or 24 month (Fall '16) life cycle?

When will the SpeedPlates and LS4 steel be available standalone?

    Thanks!

The replacement for the MX3 wont come out until Spring 2016 - we're a solid 16 months away. If that works for you then I'd wait - if you need them sooner than get them.

The speedplates and LS4 will be available standalone in June.

  5. To be frank Neo, if you were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for advertisement on this product, where there are other established competitors already in the market place (Dr Scholls, Shock Doctor, CCM, Graf, Superfeet, to name a few) you'd be dumb to say its just another footbed. From a customization standpoint, this is head over heels anything I've seen, and everyone I've heard who has skated in it has loved it.

  6. Does the Speed Plate get molded during the same process as the rest of the skate or is it a separate process? I have the custom Sidas insoles, but was told to not use them when I heat molded my skates because the heat of the skate could potentially warm the insole to the point that it changed shape as well. It sounds like the Speed Plate is a bit more of an integrated process?

It does, outside the boot. I was told by our rep to heat the skate one at a time like we normally do for 3 minutes, and halfway through that throw the speed plate in (roughly 90 seconds) - put speedplate into the skate, have user immediately stand up for 10 seconds, and then lace up the skate. I can see it getting messed up if you go somewhere that has no idea what they are doing, and especially see issues doing it at home - more reason to go into a shop that is knowledgeable and have it professionally done.

I'm looking at either buying the Nexus 1000 Nexus Pro or 800 glove. I currently have the 4-roll pro and would like to replace it. Can anyone help me out on this please? I love the fit and feel of the 4-roll pro glove. Is the 1000 that much better than the 800? Thanks in advance.

Gussets & a nicer palm are the biggest things you'll notice. If you don't want to change too much go with the 800s.

  7. The Speedplates should do well, Bauer is introducing in-store displays for these which will help out.

Digging the street catalog, I can't really think of anything else you're not offering now except NHL licensed apparel, which, I wouldn't be shocked if you roll out next year by beating out CCM.

Wouldn't mind seeing more options for team gloves though, the Navy/Red option is pretty popular among teams, but somewhat lacking for gloves.

Or if you added gloves to MyBauer - I think you'd be surprised at the quantity of nexus1000/mx3/apx2 gloves sold at $249-$269.

Should be another good year for Bauer and stock holders :)

  8. Warrior doesn't have the best booking program, so I know a decent amount of retailers that wait until closer until season to get product in.

Its worth the wait though, I like the new gloves (not as much as franchises, but, nothing will compare to those) and the QR1 sticks are amazing. Next season I'd expect to see Warrior gear in sooner some places as they will probably have an all new protective line.

  9. Ahhh what's going to happen to the makos ?!

All Makos will be repossessed from consumers and replaced with the new company's skate. All stock from retailers will be repossessed as well and replaced.

The same thing happened when Bauer bought Cooper, Bauer had all of their skates repossessed from consumers and retailers and that's why you don't see Cooper skates anymore.
