twistoffate19 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 After talking to my coach today, I found out he wants me on forward for next year, since I'm going to be playing forward, I wanted to know about the Sakic curve. I've heard that it's really good for playing forward. I was using a Drury because I was on defence last year. I've looked at it (Sakic), and if I wasnt a Drury fan would've bought that. Now that my Vapor XXX broke, Vapor XX blade cracked (same damn game!) I've decided to try an SL. My question is, in your opinion/experience, will it be hard to adjust to the Sakic curve from a Drury? What (overall) can I expect to notice (differences) between the two?
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 That switch is like going from a Bentley to a Civic. :D Stick with the Drury unless you absolutely cant stand the curve.
sherwood21 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Pfft..It's more like the other way around. :)Honestly, I don't see reason to switch curves to compliment the position you are playing. Unless of course you're unhappy with the Drury. To answer your question though, I go from Jokinen to Sakic and Sakic to Joki/Crosby all the time so it should be easy. Sven 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 maybe its like a motivation thing for him, new curve, new position, new chance and stuff
Megamandan 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Played sakic and hated it, but thats just me. The drury is an amaizing curve for forwards and seeing how your using it for D I'd stick with it. I wouldn't want to be infront of the net when you took a slapper from the point with that drury either. If you like the Drury stay with it, don't change just cause someone said it was better, make it your PP that decides.100th post!
Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Depends what you would call "hard to adjust". I've used the Sakic on and off my whole life and if there was no more Drury I'd still use it, but once you find a great thing why change? I can adjust without much difficulty technically, same with a Modano, but I say its difficult because I'd be giving up a give which gives me everything (or almost) that I am looking for because I am in a differen't position.. doesn't make alot of sense to me. If you want to make the switch, it won't be that hard from my experiences, but its just seems like your changing curves for all the wrong reasons.
opus22 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 i dont see it being too tough overall. the sakic has a nice toe on it - which helps in tight around the net. it also makes quick shots easier imo - i shoot quick shots off the toe. i think straight heel curves lend themselves best to slapshots, and midtoe curves are better for puck control and closer shooting. the rocker helps with puckhandling, imo - though it may take a while to get used to it shooting. other then that, aim low - it wants to go high. i think if you want to switch patterns, and your moving to forward - the sakic is a good choice. i dont think there is anything wrong with your reasons - not everyone is obsessed with the drury like the folks around here. the sakic, altho-ugh its all pp, would fit the more classic defintion of a forwards blade - ill get flamed for saying that around here, but its true. it may take some time though. twistoffate19 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 It's more like Zak said, motivation thing. And liek it was mentioned, I use the Drury because I was on defence, and it was a good curve for my slappers. Other than that, it was just kind of "meh", for me. Plus I'd heard from people, and seen on this board that Sakic curve tends to be a bit easier for quick shots, which I'll need, being as I'm usually the "high slot guy" for quick wristers and snappers. rausch27 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 i just switched from sakic to a drury curve and i love the drury curve.. but i honestly dont think theres THAT much of a difference....it took like 2mins of adjusting for me.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 I find the Drury and Sakic require slightly different techniques. Since I'm lazy, I stick to heel curves.
Overtime 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 i used sakic for 3 yrs now only prob is close wrist shots from the slot area thends to go too high above the net but good curve over all.
Modo22 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 I switch in game. My synergy is Drury and my SiCore is Sakic. If I get pissed at one, I use the other. I don’t find that much time to adjust if any.
Tanner23 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2005 personally i think that its alot easier to get hard fast wristers off with the sackic
