Forsberg back to the NHL?

Recommended Posts

Considering the Avs payroll, he will have to take less money to do so.

I think he would too, which I don't think would be a problem considering in 2002 when he didn't play the whole Season and then refused to accept his salary. I don't think he has ever been the guy thats about money (i.e. Mario's return).

I think the Avs like most teams will ask players to restructure contracts. If they dont they are done and will have to play somewhere else for the same money anyhow.

Forsberg, Blake, Sakic ... all fall into this area.

Under the old CBA they couldn't do that, only extend them. Yet another provision that would need to be added.

Not really. At any point, as long as the player agrees, they can tear up the old deal and put pen to paper on a new one.

I think that he is because there was a report in the gossip section of our newspaper (I live in Colorado) and it said that Forsberg was seen in Denver. We happened to drive by his apartment (I somehow found out where he lives) and the blinds were open for the first time since he moved back to Sweden. These all could just be a coinsidence but its weird.

did he even offically say that he was going to end his career with Modo or was that always just reported?

I think it was just reported. I believe I read something in the Hockey News that he wanted to go back this past year to help with the building of a new arena. I could be wrong though.

He said he wanted to play for Modo before he retired. He never said it would be the last team he played for before retiring.

Regardless, If he does end up coming back and then retireing in Denver, I dont see him not trying to win the Elite league with Modo afterwards.
