Skin Cancer?

Recommended Posts

One of my friends is apparently afraid of the sun. And she keeps telling me that if I don't wear sunblock I'm gonna die.

But how much sun exposure does one actually have to get before they're in danger?

Also, I'm Asian and pretty much brown skinned. I know I don't have enough melanin to be completely protected but I feel somewhat invincible against the puny powers of the sun! haha j/k.............but I'm less at risk right?

I love being out in the sun and I just feel like I shouldn't be worried about it.

Just looking for some thoughts, I'm sure the trusty interweb (or a doctor even!) will tell me more. B)

It is something to be taken seriously, you don't want to fry yourself...that will lead to a greater chance of getting skin cancer. My good friends brother died at 24 from skin cancer. He was a surfer and got fried all the time, started with a strange mole he got checked out, he died six months later

Wear sunblock if you're going to be out in the sun. To me it's like riding a bike without a helmet. You probably don't think you're going to get hurt until it's too late. Better play it safe. Also, accoring to 'studies' these days... EVERY little thing seems to be giving people cancer. As long as you're not always in the sun for an extended period of time continously, I don't see the harm in that.
