Mission Amp Flyweights

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a pair of used Mission Amp Flyweight skates for use over the summer. Does anyone have any info on these skates? Yes, I did search and failed to find info. Thank you in advance for your replies.

I had a pair that i got from one of the Ranger's quite a few years ago. They were going to be converted to roller skates, but i never got around to it. I really liked mine also despite the fact that they were "pro stiffened." They feel exactly like the synergy skate(s).

Sweet. They seem pretty stiff but there pretty new. Thank you for your replies.

EDIT:The Fomula Blades that came with them were VERY run down. You could only see the top half of the FORMULA letters. Could this be a potential problem or is it ok. Worst case I could buy some off of hockeymonkey.com, but these are just short term use skates and I dont want to spend 40 more bucks.

Replace the entire holder, not just the steel. The formula holder with the driveshaft is well known for having steel breakage problems.

Yeah, definitely get rid of the formula holders. I am using f pros rigt now on my new pureflys and don't even like those all that much... My flyweights were heavily balanced towards the heels when I had formulas on them.

Bought a dusty old pair brand new a couple of months ago.

Love them. Broke in just fine.

Strangest thing happened after a month or so though....I started getting a rubbing on the back of one heel.

The boot Must have stretched somehow....and or my skinny little heels maybe got skinnier??

When I checked, the insole had turned somehow. To begin with, it fits funny with the neoprene tongue sleever (or whatever it is called) in there, and maybe that was it.

Regardless, I put a heel lift I made at home from tape in there and it has been close to perfect ever since.

Love the skate though. My first Mission product and I am a convert!

I do kind of wish they would get stolen or something though.....I can't see myself ever wearing them out at my age and level, and that is the only way I can justify getting a pair of the new ones......the S500's or the L7's.....

Cheers

Ok I'll get rid of the Formula's, but that raises a new question.

What holders should I get:

TUUK Lightspeeds

TUUK Custom +

T-Blades

Easton LPS Razor Bladz II

Thank you for your replies.

they're all really different, what holders were you using before? if you can get a good sharpening, T-Blades aren't worth your money. if you like the traditional feel, the custom +'s are the best fro you, light speeds have a heel life and is a taller holder than the customs, also not as stiff imo. don't know about hte LPS razor bladz, the regular ones had durability issues.

I used to love Tuuks, I put them on everything. When I got my S500s I found I liked the Pitch more. It's about $10-$15 more than a Tuuk but they're very good.

I hate to drag up an old thread but I couldn't find any info on this.....

I have a pair of Amp Fly skate with the formula driveshaft holder. The steel cracked on me and I figured I'd just get a whole new holder/steel set.

I was mainly wondering how the pitch and the radius of the formula holders compare to other holders. Theres a lot of info on here about the mission pitch holders but not a lot about the formula holders.

Also I read that the mounting holes are the same on the pitch holders and the tuuk custom + holders and was wondering if the formula holders also have that same pattern.
