Bertuzzi

I think it will also depend alot on Steve Moore's recovery as well. If he isnt skating again by next season, I could see the commish throwing on some more games to the suspension.

Moore's neck brace is off but his still feeling the post-cust thing big time.

My guess is that Bert's time out of the game is not up whenever a season starts again.

Uninformed guesses:

1. Moore won't play again.

2. Bert will be suspended another 20+ games

3. No criminal charges

4. Moore will sue

Bingo on all counts from my perspective as well.

I definetly think Bert will be suspended some more games, but I think Moore will be back. He's young and I think he'll make a good recovery. He might never be or develop into the player he once was/could be but I think he will return.

Bert's hearing isn't until the 26th, so he wouldn't have been re-instated in time to play. I was a little pissed off to hear they couldn't have had the meeting about 10 days earlier, but who knows how the verdict will go anyways. If anyone cares Moore will not be in the meeting as originally planeed because of "extended bitterness" or something like that.

I could see it getting very heated because of the way he has handled it. He definately has his reasons, and the fact is Bert put him in the situation, so I think its a smart move to keep them seperated.

ya it's safe to say moore's career is over... a star or superstar would of made a comeback but moore wasn't that great of a player himself and no team would take a chance with him anymore. if i were moore i would go out of my way to run him over with my car and end his career for good. now here is bert bitching about not being able to play this year and shit like that. eye for an eye....

i say take him out for two more seasons or make him give moore 25% of anything he makes in the nhl from here on if moore can't play anymore. screw the big caveman over BIG time  do that and no one will ever go after another player like that in the league again.

I actually kinda like that idea. It would defiently make players think twice.

What becomes Moore's motivation to come back? He can make alot of money elsewhere with his educational backround and at the same time keep Bertuzzi out of the game for the hell of it. You'd have players purposely sitting out games to help their teams chances of winning.

i think just about anyone in the nhl has enough motivation to want to come back. i bet more then half the guys in the nhl would play for free if for some odd reason there wasn't something called money anymore. but yes i'm sure you'll have players sitting out just for the heck of it but it's only more of a reason for the ass whipe to not do something stupid in the first place. he'll know then that if he went after someone like that he is also risking his own career.

to get back on topic; I would like to see the NHL suspend him an additional number of games to at least match what they gave Marty McSorely. I don't think that is unreasonable.

Giving him the first 10-15 of the next season wouldn't be bad. But I think they kinda lost their window where they could make an example out of him. It'll be a year and a half since it happened by the next time hockey is played, if even that early.

The fact that they've taken away a good portion of the regular season, fined the team a ton of cash, basically taken away at least a first round victory (my opinion at least), made him lose his Wold Cup and World Championship spot and then sitting out the whole year along with the rest of the league makes it a little more difficult to sit him for the start of the next year.

The world cup and world championship are not NHL games and should not count. The fact he didn't play at all last year is irrelevant as nobody played last year and he wasn't punished any more severely than any other player.

He couldn't play in the World Championship because the NHL is restricting him and I assumed that the World Cup was the same deal. You're looking at 5-6 per tourney. Roughly 12 games plus Exi's it does add up. It's not "NHL", but I'm sure more people would rather play for their country than play a handful of games in the NHL when they know they'll be back. I'm not saying he shouldn't be suspended for longer, just that its alot more difficult. I'll say he's missed roughly 15 International games and another 6 in the playoffs... That's 21 games and a quater of the season.

It was the IIHF decision to honor the NHL suspension, not the NHL directly suspending him. I just don't see any justification for having a suspension shorter ( in terms of NHL games) than what the league gave Marty McSorely.
