Confusing skate sharpening

Whenever I go to my LHS to get my skates sharpened, they ask me If I want a -1, 0 or +1. Anyone have a clue what hollows those mite be? I use to do them at home, but I no longer have a machine. I usually just say -1 for hard ice and 0 for the summer when the ice is soft.

0 is probably one hollow and the +/- 1 is one notch up and down. You would have to ask them.

Ask'em. They'll tell you. If I had to guess, I'd say it's 1/2 (0) 7/16 (-1) and 9/16 or 5/8 (+1), but thats just a guess. They could be talking about pitch as well, but I doubt it. Just ask'em when your in next time.

Alrite will do, most guys who work at the shop are just WHL guys or SJHL guys who need some extra cash. Pretty cool to talk to such high up guys, specially with all there missing teeth.

The pitch isn't (or shouldn't be) affected by a sharpening. I'm sure it's a hollow designation.

Those are just codes they use that are matched with the true hollow. Just ask them what the codes mean. Also ask them if they can do more than three cuts, three choices is very limited.
