Rubber Shaft and old Easton blade circa 97-99

Recommended Posts

I am having a hard time fitting this old blade into the Rubber. It will not go all the way down to the end of the hosel. Maybe about an inch left. Should I get a new blade to fit it in? The end plug was easy to take out but putting this blade in was a chore. Use it or replace it?

thanks Kovy_Ribs_Fedo

Is there anything around the house that I could use to shave it down? I am thinking of using a pocket knife or sandpaper. Any other options? Too bad the potato peeler isn't sharp enough.

A file or utility knife works pretty well. Just don't try it with a nail file.

Thanks Chadd

I would never of thought of a file .... maybe a utility (box cutter, Xacto Knife) knife once my smart brain cells aligned. :P

Also any other techniques for getting the blade out now? I had the blade up and almost used all my weight to force it down the shaft. Now if I have to take it out, I am thinking its an impossible task. I gotta hook it behind a door and yank at it...

heat the shaft a little and pull. even if there's no glue on the shaft, the heat should make it expand a little and make it easier to pull out

Worst case, you can cut it off and either drill out what's left of chisel it out with a hammer and screwdriver.

I have had the same problem. Heat it up, and stick it in a vice and pull it out, if it doesn't come out, heat the thing up more, eventually it will come out.
