steve66 45 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 found a nice little article on the usage of a TiVo type playback of games so the coaching staff can review plays immediately there and then. One example used in the article is when Mellanby's goal went under review. The Sharks coaching staff knew before the call it was a no goal and were able to show the players and get them back to the game plan in advance.I also like the part about burning DVD for players of their own shifts for them to watch, usually on the road between games.Link to the article
Guest 2048 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Ron Wilson's started doing that a few years ago while in Washington. I remember seeing a segment on it and wondering why no one else was trying it. Then again, most of these are guys are probably old fogeys who fear technology like Brian Leetch does a shot to the ankle.

Guest phillyfan Report post Posted April 21, 2004 I'm sure all teams have similar strategies, but may not publicize it for their own reasons. It's hard to believe that in this day and age, teams wouldn't take advantage of the technology offered to them. Wasn't Nielson the pioneer for using Taped Videos of players to help correct mistakes? Kirsch 1 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Well the thing with this technology is that they are using tablet PCs with wireless TiVo technology that connects directly to the press box. Alot of teams aren't using it yet because its pretty experimental and isn't widely available.
mack 44 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 I think the Caps started that with Tim Army watching a lot of replays.Edit: Do'h, 2048 had it already.
rh_joel 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Thats an excellent idea. I'd be surprised if that idea doesn't catch on more in the league now that this technology is cheaper and more efficient
