ktang 34 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 About the practicing French: Quebecois French is from about 400 years ago. I had to fake a Parisien accent when I was working in Paris (for about a year) in order to be understood in meetings.Montreal is pretty bilingual so you should be able to make do, and Quebec City has a lot of tourists, so you should be able to find someone to help you language-wise. freq019 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 If you're a racing fan, or more specifically into F1 you can go to the Gilles Villeneuve Museum just outside Montreal and you can catch a drink at Jacques' restaurant Newtown in downtown Montreal. also if you're into drinking aren't there some bars owned by some old timers hockey players? If you're up for it you could drop down to detroit and catch what is the redwings store again Hockeytown Originals? and maybe chelios's restuarant.
Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2005 I'm from France and there's no big differences between Quebecois French and original french, just the accent. Probably just the hardcore Parisiens then, they all pretended not to know what I was saying over there and I was speaking fine. Its their way or the highway most days... canhockey7 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 Cool Cool....so far I've got Toronto and the hall of fame listed. I think we will be doing most of the main cities at this stage it will look something like this....Quebec-->Montreal-->Ottawa-->Winnipeg-->Edmonton-->Vancouver.Can't wait to see it all! Especially Edmonton Im a big Mark Messier fan so that place for me is gonna be awesome considering how many times I've read his Bio.PS: Teaching myself how to speak more French atm, but its hard not having a single person to talk back to in the language! ;) When you're passing through Manitoba, on your way to Edmonton from Winnipeg, gotta make a stop here in Brandon and take in a Wheat Kings game, obviously they won't be as good next year if there is an NHL, but WHL hockey is awesome, and you won't be disappointed, plus, tickets are right around $15 each, for any seat, none of this $100 a ticket for AHL or NHL. sryhockeyguy 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2005 If you're gonna spend time on learning french good, it'll be helpfull but I doubt that even 1/4 of the places you go will be predominantly french. From Toronto west, it's all english, honestly you'd be better off learning Punjabi :P

Dangles 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 While in Toronto, you might want to check out Wayne Gretzky's restaurant. It's not bad and has the numbers "99" grilled into the meat of the burger they have.
