So you're saying that all bands/artists mentioned in this topic like 50 Cent, Coldplay, Tech N9ne ( which I downloaded and is alright ), and all those other people we talked about are not to your liking?

I'm saying their combined talent isn't worth 4 pages of discussion on a hockey website. 90+% of music is marketing. For every platinum selling artist there are 50 other bands or rappers with as much talent out there that aren't as easy for the record company to market so they are used by the labels as a tax write off.

I hate everyone who thinks 50 cent is "rap". Back in the day I used to be into real rap like bone thugs and harmony and nwa. Im tired of all the videos on muchmusic with rappers and there girls and rapping about all their money but they used to be from the hood. I thought music was supposed to have a purpose. Go listen to some music that has meaning, not some mainstream bullshit that sells. Anyways thats my little vent, for all you Coldplay fans I suggest Radiohead...you probably have heard of them but they sound like Coldplay but a little heavier in some of their songs. I would suggest Paranoid Android by them or anything off their Ok Computer album. By the way they have been dubbed the next Pink Floyd which is pretty good. That is all have a good day.....

Never heard Throwdown. Is it worth downloading? What's a good song of their's to sample? Speed Of Sound/In My Place are good ones from Coldplay. I first heard them sing on the OC (Fix You)

Throwdown is awesome if you're into metal/hardcore. Forever is a good song by them for anyone else who may be interested.

But.. when you say to listen to something that has meaning and not mainstream bullshit that sells (I'm not saying it doesn't having meaning, hence link, or that its bullshit) but The Wall sold 23 million copies, only Michael Jackson's Thriller (26 million) and The Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1957 (28 million) out sold the album. Plus, Dark Side of the Moon sold like 15 million copies.

Bands like Cursive, Blood Brothers, Sadaharu, Explosions in the Sky, The Bled, Saosin, Rocket Summer, etc, etc. If you want a big list I'll giver but that covers a little bit of it

I am getting sick and tired of people who don't like rap saying stuff like "there fake" "they aren't real gangstas" unless you know the man personally anything you hear is rumors. It seems to me that people get pissed off that rap is so popular and find anyway they can to bash it.

Who ever said that i dont like rap? I listen to rap, yes. But i dont listen to any of the mainstream crap. I could give 2 shits about rap being so popular, hell im glad that some of these guys are making it out of "the ghetto". But 50 gets none of my musical respect. He just keeps pounding out the rhymes consisting of bitches/money/cars/drugs over and over and over. As far as his marketing the guy got verylucky that eminem liked the way he rapped. Seriously, where would he be without em/dre's help?

Him getting shot doesn't help, because now he thinks he's "hardcore" and this makes up 200 of his 205 songs.
