Lightspeed Problem.

Recommended Posts

Ok here's the problem guys. I have Lightspeed 1's on a pair of skates. Now the lightpeesda were fine for a month or two but after that time there was a clicking noise which was some loose hardware inside the skate, it was pretty bad so i had to tighten it after every game by sticking an allan-wrench into my skates and turning it which was just about the most difficult thing I have ever done. Now after last game i took a look into the tiny hole that the hardware piece is in and it wasnt there anymore!! It just came off. Now i'm not sure what to do, ive been fishing around trying to get it for about 2 hours now and to no luck. I know that was kind of vauge but is there anything i can do without having to go get my holder taken off and how long can i expect the blade to last without this small piece of hardware in?

I'm assuming that it's the nut that is missing.

If you can hear it rattling around the holder, but can't seem to shake it out of the insole's access hole, you could try removing the blade (to get the screw part out of the way), hold the skate upside down, and vacuum it out (into an empty vacuum cleaner!).

Or, get a new nut and put it on, leaving the old one in the holder.

Edit: Just thought of another option. You could enlarge the access hole (3/8 inch spade bit) so that the nut can be shaken out more easily.

But, wait for more (and better ideas) before trying the above.

I got it out. Thanks guys, I'm just gonna bring the skate to one of my LHS for them to do it all correctley.

Watch out, when I got my steel changed on my LS1, my LHS put them in and they started clicking, D'oh! Watch out though, my steel literally fell out during my tryout and I had to take my skate off and screw it up.

your holder might be too soft, if the holders are too soft then you would half to replace the entire holder itself. ive seen a few lightspeeds get soft. the best way to tell is when your tightening the blades if you look at the spot where the hardware is if you can see that plastic going bigger and smaller then the holders are soft
