Bauer 8000

Recommended Posts

My friend just got a pair of bauer 8000 from hockeygiant.com and he SAID that the tuuk is not mounted correctly on the boot and it bends the blade... i have not seen it but he asked me to see if it was a common problem that people have noticed. I HEARD that the 6000 had a problem with the holders mounted properly. He is going to send them back but he is worried the second pair will be the same way. BTW they are jr 8000 and only one of them is "bent"/ mounted incorrectly.

yes it is common. I just remounted a holder for a guy on a 8000, he bought it from one of the web sites. IMO, the web siites seem to obtain, lets say, a bunch of factory seconds with flaws. But if they are going to replace it, then it's no big deal other than the aggravation.

On a related note, I had a customer who got a pair of new Vapor VIII from the local PIAS who came in for a sharpening. First thing I noticed was the blade was 10 degrees or so off vertical, so I showed it to him. I put a little pressure on it to bend it back and now it's 10 degrees off vertical the other way.

The guy was so disgusted he bought a new pair of L5s on the spot and was on his way to try and return the skates last time I saw him.

it really depends how bad the holder is mounted, a few companies iknow off have purchased the maximum blade alignment machine and others are considering purchasing it. it would be a good tool for them too have because if a boot is off 1-2 lines on the tool a person can adjust to that where if its off more than that then the person will either have to wedge the blade to make it straighter or re-mount it or in the odd case if its off quite alot then it should be sent back to the company

i ordered a pair of v-9s from HockeyGiant and my Tuuk Custom+ came bent when I took it in for it's first sharpening. When I took it in for another sharpening, both of them were bent and they said the holders weren't mounted properly at all.
