Holder questions

Recommended Posts

I recently tried on the Vecor boot and loved it. Fit like a glove. I was going to buy the 7.0, but then noticed the ZG 120 had a boot that was nearly identical. Given the fact that sharpening in our area is terrible (there's only one place with some automated machine), I decided to try the t'blade equipped ZG 120's. They seem ok when I skate. But here's the deal, no matter which skate I bought (ZG's or 7.0's) I was planning on changing to a new holder (TUUK). Given that I got the t'blades, I may delay the switch (I am moving in 6 months, hopefully to a place with a real hockey shop). But when I change, will I hurt the skate by having new holes put in to accommodate the TUUK holder? Is there a version of the TUUK that would fit these skates better? Any advice would be great. Also, how much does labor usually cost for a holder change?

Nope, you won't have any problems, granted the shop knows what they are doing. If you don't think you have a shop that is capable of doing it, you can send them off - I'm in MI.

Where in MI? I'm in North-ish Indiana. We drive up to MI sometimes just to get equipment, and we always get sharpening jobs when we do.

The reason I spent more for the t'blades is that for the entire next season I will be in an area without a quality sharpener. There is no hockey shop, just a Play-it-Again Sports with an incompetent (hockey wise) staff. Their sharpening ruined several games for me last season. I didn't want that to happen again. So I will keep the t'blades until I move (6 months) and then change. It was worth the extra cash, even for a poor college student. ;)
