new glove

Recommended Posts

As the topic says I need new gloves and I get good deals on Bauer so I pinned it down to the two. I´m coming from Nike Quest 1 and actually like the shape and feel of them but am now looking for something maybe a little wider. Anyone on here who can compare the Vapor XX and XXX regarding fit and weight? Wrist movement as well? I would save aprox. 39$ if I go for the XX over the XXX as well. Any suggestions?

in my opinion the vapor XXX is worth the extra $39. i like the nylon exterior because it keeps the gloves lighter, it also seems to not retain water. the fit of the glove is similar to an eagle, plenty of wrist movement and wide in my opinon. the vapor XXX glove is definatly about performance and not protection. i tihnk just becasue of the extra palm and the nylon outer shell you should go with the XXX, i did and i love them.

off the shelf I like the feel of the XXX better, but once the XXs are broken in, I prefer them. XXs have my favorite palm of any glove out right now and they last a LONG time from my experience with them....opposite for the XXX's palm that which I hear doesn't last. For me, XXX's only advantage over the XX is the weight.

SR27,

If you are willing to understand that the XXX palms will get destroyed in no time, than go for the XXX because the nylon knit is a great feature. However, as the guys say the XX palm will hold up much better but the overall glove weight will be what you give up with the XX. BTW, you will need a good re-conditioner to repalm your XXX's. So add that $ to whatever you decide to do. I would never send my glove re-conditioner the palms that come the XXX's. They won't last long, either!

I say this 8 times a day on here, but my XXX palms have lasted for 5 1/2 months before tearing. I am on the ice nearly 8-9 times a week, every week. That's ridiculous durability. Let us take into consideration that I don't use too much tape on my knob, just a small lump, but considering the amount of ice time that I get that is just too much time to last for a palm that everyone wrote off (before using might I add) as soon as they saw them

One kid in the local HS league went through 3 pair this year and he's only on the ice twice a week at most.

Might I also add that to maximize the length that you get out of your palms, you should air out properly and allow lots of time to dry. That is a big portion of why mine lasted so long

The vapor line is like a melding of supreme and quest gloves. May I also recomend the 5000's or SDP's if you want a wider glove. I wore XX's and they fit a little tighter than the XXX. People say that the XXX's don't retain water, but the XX doesn't have any material that can really absorb it. The two gloves retail the same price around here though, so I don't take price into consideration at all. So if the XX are cheaper, I'd say get them.

I have had the same experience with my XXXs. I bought them right after they were released and have never had a single problem with the palms. They have been very durable and I would definitely recommend them to another player.
