Next Hockey merger to come, any ideas?

Recommended Posts

Anybody have some ideas on the next merge to come in the hockey our sporting business, my guess is the number one fastest growing sport company Puma to take controll over New balance,

Nike needs to by something to keep there number one place, weak sale in core business forces them to spend, i guess they go for Columbia, North face or Burton, but non of this companies likes Nike so it can be hard to take controll at a modest price, next take ovcer will be expensiv, the market knows they are having trouble!

In hockey i have no idea, looking forward to some more info!

Actually, I believe that Puma and adidas are still separate companies. If Puma wanted in to the hockey busness you would think it would be smart for them to buy Graf for the skates and TPS for the sticks but I doubt it would happen.

Here is a story about the history of the rivalry between adidas and Puma:

adidas and Puma Rivalry

Starter is owned by Nike (bought them around the same time last year) and adidas recently sold off Salomon to Amer Sports.

So Adidas and Salomon aren't together anymore? That must be recent, I was looking at the packing slip the other day of a Salomon package and it had Adidas-Salomon on it.

As far as I can tell Starter was never owned by Puma. Maybe Puma bought up some Starter assets when Starter filed for bankruptcy in 1999 but that seems to be about it.Here is the article about the Nike takeover of Starter from last year.

adidas sold Salomon very recently. So recently, in fact, that the actual name of the adidas company is still adidas-Salomon. If you look in the adidas websites it still lists Salomon as one of their brands also. The adidas corporate website URLs still even have Salomon in them. My guess is that they needed the money from the Salomon sale to grab Reebok.

How do we even know there's going to be another merger?

There's always another merger. Sher-wood or TPS?
