Automated skate sharpening/ profiling

Recommended Posts

The first one we are doing only has foam buffing wheel instead of a sharpening stone. Once we dial the setup, spacing and such, then we'll think about putting a stone on it. Don't want to shred skates unless we have to.

I was told by a store clerk at my lhs/rink that the cag profiler pitches the blade... I didn't think it did?

I wanted a slight +1 pitch and he said if I did a 25/55 it would be slightly pitched

Epic failure. Got an A on the project, however the "automated sharpener" was a complete bust. The amount of money required to make it even halfway functional was way too much for an electrical engineering class.

Simply call Ben at Cag One he wil explain that no it does not pitch the skate. Skates need to be pitched prior to using the Cag.

Why do I also see some people saying they applied a radius prior to using the cag ? I thought the point of the cag was to radius the skate?

I ask because my stock ls3's are 10ft. If I use a cag won't that change the radius ?

No it won't.

It only puts n the flat spot in the middle of the blade as you see fit. Now the one made by Wally from the Hurricanes my understanding is he has his set up to actually change the profile via computer programming. but a standard Cag needs the blade to be pitched and profiled first then the Cag will set the flat spot where desired and even out the blades as best as possible!
