Top Eyelet problem

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, that's not uncommon for first generation Vector skates. Should be covered by warranty. Hopefully you bought them from your local hockey shop so they can help you out.

Very easy to fix, they will sew two pieces of leather together and put in new eyelet.

Cost about $10.

Of all the vectors I sold, only had one tear thru. I found it is not a common problem. When it does happen, it is usually caused by lacing the top eyelet during the heat molding process, when the leather is hot it can be stretched/weakened easy. The other is when coaches or dads are tying junior size skates and use too much strength.

I only ever see it on Vectors or Nike skates. It's not uncommon for them at all around here.

you guys must tie your skates tighter than us up here. ;)

If the top eyelet is not tied during the heat molding, you will likely not have a problem

I'm surprised some of these kids can feel their feet at times. Nearly everyone around here thinks that your laces have to be as tight as you can possibly get them.
