#28tz 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 I doubt there will be to much of that in NHL when the season starts as the rule that states that any player who engages in a fight their coach gets fined or something like that.

Project824 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2005 I'm not going to debate whether the league is good or bad, it is what it is, and it's another chance for some guys to make a few dollars playing hockey. One thing I will say is, what on earth were the guys on the white team thinking? Having been in similar situations, you KNOW when a liner is about to happen, especially when you've got 220 lbs of pure steak staring intently across the faceoff dot. If that wasn't enough, then maybe the big SJ two hander right off the drop might have cued you in. One way or the other, they got worked. Yea, there were some dirty shots in there, but what was the one guy who got knocked out thinking just skating around in circles? If you can throw square up, otherwise get off the ice before you get hurt. The white guy who picked up the stick in front of his bench right at the end deserved every part of the beating he got.At that point in the brawl, suspensions, fines and whatnot, the coach should have cleared the benches. Either the team in white is short quite a few tough guys to be playing in that league, or the coach made a mistake and put the wrong guys on the ice not noticing "Les Freres Hansen" were out drooling at center ice. His guys were taking a beating, and the rest of his team looked like a bunch of skirts on the bench. Now every time that dark team plays them, they will have an edge. Hell, every time that dark team walks by them on the street they will have an edge. No players like a coach that lets 5 guys hang out to dry in that situation. It's ugly, you'll get suspended, but at that point, the game has already taken a turn for the worst. And maybe the 5 guys on the ice would be able to remember their "nom" and "anniversaire". Bingo.Just played my first junior hockey in a tourney this weekend. The fact is, if you don't want to drop the gloves, no one is making you. and hell, if you don't want to fight, then wear a visor... Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted September 5, 2005 How many line brawls was there in your tournament? In a normal fight, juniors is pretty good. Don't want to go? Don't go. Line brawls are whole different animal. It's not that easy.

But like someone said before, if you're a goal scorer, and it's going like that, you get the hell off the ice before you get hurt.
Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted September 5, 2005 Thanks... didn't even notice till you said it.You can't just get off the ice though. Best thing to do (in my opinion) is to grab the guy, tie him up and just get in tight. Only problem is with linebrawls, its not like a fight, its dirty as hell. You risk someone else coming in, or just getting your face slammed against the ice.If I'm the coach, and thats the situation, I send the bench. Swallow the suspension, but save my players. Yea, but the point was that the guy who got roundhoused had already gotten his beating served up once and was a non factor at that point. He definitely should have either strapped them up to go again (find someone) or else get to the bench. Not that he would have been safe there in this case.Exactly right, if you're the coach, you send the bench instead of letting your guys hang out to dry. Unless he knew his team really was a bunch of skirts, in which case he'd better head over to the nearest UFC competition and see who can skate.
hockechamp14 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2005 Here's another great fight(s). Ottawa vs. Philly. Check out one of the last 2 shots with the benches in it, there's only 2-5 guys on each bench! www.personal.psu.edu/users/a/j/ajt177/03-05-04-Flyers-Vs-Sens.wmv

Bob Clarke complained after the game that Ottawa took advantage of all his European players and jumped them.
