NHL Rule Enforcement Video

Recommended Posts

Hi folks.

A couple of weeks ago the NHL teamed up with EA sports to explain the new rules. That was pretty cool.

Now, using real hockey footage, the NHL explains what the refs will be calling. Check it out:

EDIT: A better link:

All I can say is get ready for the parade to the penalty box. They're calling everything! Yikes!

Some of the examples of what was good and bad with the forechecking didn't look very different at all. They need to fine the piss out of divers and floppers as well.

I can see how the NHL is trying to free up the game and allow alot more flow to begin, but what i can say, IMO, is i think these new penalties are going to be extremely hard to spot due to the speed of natural game play.. I mean come on, how many penalties do refs already miss, and with 10 or so new penalties to be added.. ;) Personally I think these rules are good, it will allow more scoring opportunities and alot more skill to be used by the puck carrier.. But, as i said, good luck to the refs spotting these infractions..

They weren't missed, they were ignored for the most part.

I dont quite know what you mean.. I'm not here to prove a point or state that i know 100% what i'm talking about, i mean i've never seen a real NHL game being from Sydney Australia, hence the fact i dont quite understand what you mean.. i've played a fair amount of hockey in my life { 9 yrs } though to state the fact that i see alot of penalties in the game missed..

The refs chose not to call them. They see nearly everything that happens on the ice, especially with two refs now.

With that NHL logo looking all metallic and kind of industrial along with the cheesy music, I was half expecting to see Robocop show up in one of the scenes...

I'm surprised the ref jerseys aren't black and silver or something like that.

I'm Steven Walkom and welcome...... lol that cracked me up. By the look on his face it was like he had to say it or else he was fired.

On topic, I can see A LOT of older defence men retire after this year. Someone like Niedermayer will be good.
