New Mission Shafts?

Recommended Posts

I was looking through today's pics on the MSH Pic Gallery and I noticed Anson Carter had what appeared to be a white 2 piece Mission shaft. Patrick Marleau also can be seen with a white Mission stick but it looks like a 1piece so it's probably the Hex1. Can anyone ID the stick Carter has? Is it just a white L2 or something? I know someone on here hinted that Mission is developing some new shafts to be lighter this year. Different shaft shapes too. Could this be it?

I believe Anson is using a Hex 1 that has been altered... I believe he prefers a traditional (Ion) two shaft-blade combo.

In other word a 2 piece Hex 1 that has a traditional connection point and has not been bonded.

So are the blades that Carter uses wood or graphite? I know I've seen some wood Mission blades used by pros (most recently a pic of Ryan Smyth in the Canadian Nat. Team dressing room, in his "Vapor XX" shaft) but I don't think I've seen any standard graphite Mission blades.

Just an FYI, I saw some Hex1 and H1 grips at a store in my area. Not really my LHS as I have to travel quite a bit to get to. They seem VERY nice. Weight-wise I'd say they are around a Vapor XX (it's light, but not as light as the newest OPS like the SL or the XXX). If I had to guesstimate I'd say they fee like maybe 445-455 something like that. The blade is super thin. Didn't get to see a Ribeiro curve tho. I've heard good things about that curve. Also, the shaft shape is different than the M1. It felt more concave on both sides. The H1 grip seemed to the same grip as on the M1Grip. I hope they make this new shaft shape into a 2piece. It a had a good feel, and if it performs anything like my M2, I'd be quite happy.

Justin, Any idea if there is a Hex-2 (shaft/blade tapered combo) in the works? Or if Mission has any new Shafts and blades coming out? I love the feel and wear of the Hex blade, but I am not the biggist fan of the Hex-1! I think a Hex tapered combo would be awesome, and sell quite well IMO!

I'm sure there would have to be a new shaft-blade combo in the works.. I'll put $50 on it be an H2.. If Mission were to follow previous trends..
