He was coming over till the IIHF pulled out of that transfer agreement.

Only Russia pulled out of the agreement.

they way i understood it was that he was going to make major bank in russia. it had nothing to do with the agreement. he'll mostly likely be there next year though.

Either he or his agent (I forget who) said it would be easier to win the calder next year.

interesting, but lame. i'd like to see him compete for it this year. i'm sure his contract will have some kind of calder bonus money.

Wow if that's the truth, easier to win the Calder next year, I really don't like the kid. I thought he had the opportunity to get more points than Ovechkin. Ovechkin is more of a shooter, but from what I saw at the WC, and I think I saw him play World Juniors a few years ago, he looked like an overall threat. Setup guy and shooter.

Two things piss me off about him now:

1) He has no heart. A willingness not to compete, no matter what the circumstances is weak. He wants an easier time of it? Less talanted players will make him more likely to win the calder? Doesn't he know that a great player is only great when he is better than other greats? So, what he wants is to be better than not-so-good-talent. Weak.

2) He is just after money. He just wants to win the Calder so he get some kind of lucrative bonus. Weak.

Send his ass back to Russia. Let him play there for 5 years. When he tops out at a million a year, when he could have played and competed in the NHL, and be paid well for it, let's see how fast he comes back to the US.
