Super feet (grey)

Recommended Posts

Two cork ones, one for industrial footwear and one for all-purpose (black).

The black one will work with hockey skates. It is more substantial than the stock ones.

So the concept is along the lines of Sole Custom footbeds.

Would one be able to heat current Superfeet insoles and achieve the same (or close to the) result?

You would have to know how to fit and of course the vacuum molding. It is not easy, there is a procedure involved - it's not just heat and mold. There are adjustments that have to be made.

Fredrik - yes.

amongst the posts about the new custom footbeds my question seems to have been lost :(

for those who have used superfeet in skates, do you feel a substantial lack of feel in the skates? the insoles will elevate your heel, and i dont want to lose feel of the skate edges

so would the black Superfeet (non-customs) work with skates as well? I'm just asking because my local EMS carries the black, blue, and green ones..... the grey that Superfeet "recommends" for skates are special order only.

I've been using Superfeet for the last couple of weeks- Haven't noticed anything good or bad about them. I thought they would correct the moderately flat feet that I have. When I actually look at my own skating stance when I'm standing still, I appear to have better posture now (less pronation), but I haven't noticed anything whilst skating.

Their overall thickness seem to have made my skates a little bit shallower, but not by much. I had some extreme pain at first, but I didn't cut them down enough and there were some areas in the mid-foot where the sides folded up a bit and pinched my foot (and foot pain is pretty common for me anyway).

I use the gray Superfeet in my Bauer 5000s and really didn't notice any real lack of feel in the skates. What I did notice was better posture and that my knees don't hurt as much after officiating several games in a row. Only thing is, when I had my skates heat molded origially, they still had the stock foam footbeds in them. The Superfeet slightly changed how my feet sit in my boots and I now have a few hotspots on my feet. I'm planning on having them heat fit again but this time with the Superfeet during the molding process.

Great product, HIGHLY recommended!

I may be bringing custom Superfeets to my stores - it's a station with a chair, an oven to heat up the plastic and a foot-activated vacuum. They did the procedure to me in Toronto, I have not skated on them (that is going to be the deal-breaker)

IIRC, I think they also do (or did) this at Original Stix in Toronto. Didn't try it but it sounded like a good idea, maybe expensive for insoles but cheaper than orthotics.

Black Superfeet works for high-volume skates

I just picked up some grey Superfeet and was wondering if they are supposed to be heat molded with the skates, or if baking would damage them?

JR, where in Toronto was this? Also, were the Grey available where you got them done?

I mentioned in an earlier post that I think Original Stix did this. It was about a year and a half ago that I talked to them about it, so call ahead to make sure.

I have the grey ones in my skates and like them a lot better than the stock footbeds. I originally got them because my feet are flat and pronate, and wanted to see if they'd be able to help my duck feet.

I remember reading somewhere (package insert, superfeet website) that these are't supposed to be baked. The basis behind them is the plastic cap is shaped to properly support your foot, so heating them can change this shape.

Anybody ever done this?

Ordered a pair of grey Superfeets because lately my 5 year old 652 Tacks have been hurting my dogs. If they still hurt after I insert the SF's, I may finally retire these bobsleds.

I just bake the skates, then when they come out of the oven I put in the grey Superfeet before lacing them up.

Had this done at East West hockey a few months ago...needed more support for my high insteps. This did the trick

Toronto Hockey Repair recently started selling the Sidas Conformable custom footbeds. They're a Graf re-brand of Sidas, who've been really popular in cycling circles for quite some time. It works more or less as JR described the custom Superfeet, except that the Sidas process is a good bit more in-depth.

They come free in the new Graf Ultra G-series skates, or on their own for $100 a pair. The process takes the better part of an hour, from the initial measurements through to the final trim-fit in the skates.

Can't speak to the results yet, but I'll post a review when I've had them done.

Were these the custom Superfeets that were talked about earlier in this thread, or the regular gray ones?
