replacing the blade on a broken vapor xx

Recommended Posts

I know a lot of people do this and I figued I may as well throw a blade into my broken stick so I have a backup. Do I just use a regular blade or a tapered one?

Heat at the fuse point, pull the broken blade, and use a tapered replacement.

will this give me much better results than just cutting it and using a regular blade?

Obviously,Yes. Dont heat it to much or youll ruin the shaft.

Ok. So for all the non believers (cause i kno i was) you actually can pull the blade of the XX out and use as a tapered blade...I heated for about 5 minutes then took a hack so to the fuse point cut the slightet bit in until i felt hard (because the part i was sawing was paint) then i heated for another two minutes and voila! A new tapered blade for me! And i bought the synthesis grip shaft im using it in for 60$ so im feeling pretty good about my 60$ set-up..haha hopefully the blade holds up

As whbd18 said, yes.

Could I use the blade of my broken XX as a tapered blade?
Yes,but you might need some tape on the Hosel

Again, as whbd18 said, yes. ALSO, like he said you migh need tape depending upon which shaft you use as contrary to standard shafts, not all tapered blade hosels are the same dimension. Bauer blades are slightly smaller in dimension. The Inno replacement I bought for mine SHAFT fine, though. The Easton ones wouldn't fit in though unless I cut the shaft slightly higher (in theory at least - haven't tried that yet). But if you broke the shaft and want to re-use the blade, you'll likely need to use the tape as mentioned.

how do you heat the blade? I don't have a heat gun..should I use a stove or a torch?

Heat gun is ALWAYS the better way to go. ALWAYS. Direct heat (i.e., fire) is way more likely to damage the product. Put the blade in a vice (or, if you're trying to save the blade, put the shaft in a vice). If the shaft is broken and you want the blade, heat the hell out of the shaft and just start yanking like you just saw Jessica Simpson nekked.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, But i know you can pull the blade out of an xn10, and im wondering if you can also put that blade back into the xn10 shaft once it has been taken out?
