killthepoodle 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Well folks.....my pants are done for (both pairs) and I was just going to order another pair of Tackla 5000x's as I am accustomed to them and know their quality. I am interested in the 8k's from reebok as an alternative though. No one around here has the 8k's so I need to go on second hand info......thats where you guys come into play. Any of you worn both? What did you think of the 8k's as compared to a regular/euro fit type pant like the tackla? Thanks!edit: I see some posts about the 951's too.....but in pictures they look more like a conventional NA fit pant......I really liked the way the euros hug you..... blues_91 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I had some mid-end Tackla's before I had my 8ks and the fit isn't that different. The best part about the 8Ks is that you can adjust the legs to make them wider or tighter or longer to your liking. The only thing I don't like about the 8ks is that the leg part of the shell isn't as wide as the Tacklas and my shin pads push the pant up.
tekdawg 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2006 Takla 951 are more of a euro fit.. Super light... Zipperd Legs
Sghockey21 1 Report post Posted January 6, 2006 I have a pair of Tackla 5000s too and when I lifted up the 8Ks, I didn't even want to put them on. Much too heavy and bulky. However, I did like the reebok 5K pants. Looks and feels alot like the 5000s but with better tailbone protection and maybe a tiny bit heavier. If I was on a budget, I would get the 5Ks. However, it's hard to go away from the 5000s.
Dougie8 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2006 I've tried on the 8k's and I loved how you could adjust the Leg pad/girdle system, and how freely, you were to move in them. I want to get some, they are alot of money though

killthepoodle 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2006 I ended up with another pair of 5000x's.......though I might end up with a pair of 8ks here shortly too, but will try them, and if I like my tacklas better sell them to a friend.
Fredrik 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2006 yo tengo 8ks (thanks a lot, JR lol) and i LOVE THEM. period. best pant i've ever owned, with protection + mobility in mind 10/10 I use the JOFA girdle with a shell, which would be about the same as the 8K:s except for the removable shell (which i think is great). It's adjustable both in length and width and has a two belt system. It has a very close fit which i like...
lesterhenson 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2006 On a plus side, i think the 8K's (when fitted properly) have an almost seemless protection (especially bettween the thigh pad and girdle area) and are very mobile.-, THey are kinda heavy and the tailbone protector gives a "manhandling" feel when you first wear them, imo
iceholes 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2006 when I was trying te 8k's on...the difference between the 8 and the 5 is suposed to be the outer shell... 6000 to 1000 denier... was he correct?
