Great move. Chadd called that one (yet again) in another thread. I´m saying Spezza will fill his spot.

steve has always been a class act. he is putting canada's quest for the gold above himself. there is a rumor that mario will do the same.

I love the fact that on the day he pulls out of Team Canada running, he goes out and scores a superstar goal last. That was a move you'd expect from him 5-6 years ago...not on the day that he steps aside from Team Canada, to make room for the kids.

Class all the way.

And, I say Spezza goes in to play with Heats...how do you not.

I agree that Spezza should go and should play but my concern would be that they already have a lot of the lines decided and the "new" guys aren't going to play.

I think I would rather put crosby on than Speeza because he seems to be more of a finisher but crosby can finish and make incredible plays which i think is more valuable.

I think Speeza's already made chemistry w/ Heatley might be enough to push him on to the roster as there always looking for guys who already have chemistry as the case is with Thornton and Nash. Two guys who have been incredibly hot lately and I think might have an outside chance for the team are Marleu and Tanguay.

I expect these to be starters to lines

Lecavalier? - Saki - Iggy

Gagne - Richards - St. Louis

Nash - Thornton - Doan

Heatley - Checking center - Smyth

It's hard to fit Spezza and Heatley in because you have to knock 2 players off. Quinn loves to get pairings and go with them. Sakic and Iggy will be togehter. Richards and St. Louis will be as well (likely with Gagne at the world cup), Thornton will be with Doan or Nash if not both, and they want a checking center, which will likely be Madden or Draper.

That's what you expect, or what you think would be best? They seem to love this "checking center" idea. At least they upgraded over Rob Zamuner from '98, so you have to slot one of them in. They've basically announced one of Madden or Draper will make it and one of Spezza, Staal, and Crosby will make it.

it also depends if Nash goes if he doesnt 2 of the 3 you mentioned will go

Kinda a combo of both. I would put out the best talent I could as long as they were capable of playing whatever role the coach would ask of them. I would still put some purely defensive guys on the roster as well.

I think not putting McCabe on the roster would be a joke as well.

He's played his way off the team in the last month, but the last week has been awful for him. He played decent when Gretz was in town (tuesday), but still didn't put up any points and last night he was directly responsible for both goals in a 2-1 loss. His only hope is as 7th man, but I can't see it.

Pronger - Blake

Niedermayer - Foote

Jovo - Regehr

then there's Hannan ( ), Bouwmeester, Staos, McCabe, Phaneuf all fighting it out.

who do u guys think will make it in goal, i would have to say

1) Brodeur

2)Turco

3)cujo

with turco and cujo fighting for the second spot

Brodeur and Luongo will be 1 and 2. As for the 3rd i'd say Cujo maybe although i'd rather have Belfore in there

I expect it to be Brodeur, Luongo and Theodore. CuJo may go as well, instead of either Luongo or Theo. I'd like to see Turco there as well.

brodeur, theo and luongo have all strugled this year but Gretz's really likes brodeur, so you never know, but either way if canada loses there will always be the " we would of win with such and such in net'' crap

What's up with this kid Jay Bouwmeester.. Is he really a possible member of team Canada ? I've checked his stats, and he always seems to end the season with a negative +/- statistic.. In my eyes the most important statistic for defencemen.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good player, maybe a little young.. But aren't there any better in Canada ?

Will anyone on the Panthers have a positive +/- by the seasons end? He play lots of minutes for them, there must be a reason why. It would be nice to see him on another team - to see if he's as good as they seem to think.

Depends on what they are looking for. He was one of their best D at the World Cup and has won the Best Defenseman award at the World Championships. He isn't very offensive and isn't a great "take charge" guy. He's playing on an awful team so it's hard to keep his +/- up, he plays alot of "hard" minutes as well. Against other teams top lines and such.
