Anyone using shock doctor footbeds?

Recommended Posts

I've seen the question asked but not answered. Obviously they're going to be better than the stock footbed my vector pro's have but I'm hoping someone can share their experience if they've switched to these. Also, should I put them in before or after I bake the skate? Cheers.

ok...... sorry for the post. I actually found a fair amount on this subject from earlier in the year when I actually searched for "footbed" instead of "shock doctor". I've never had a problem with stock footbeds to begin with but I've been hearing about these for awhile now and thought I'd give them a shot.

No need to apologize.

I just think that the SD ones, with the heel lift, are too thick.

Thanks.... and thanks for having such an informative site, I really enjoy it. Great members and a ton of useful info unlike alot of other sites.

Where exactly can I find Shock Doctor or Superfeet footbeds (in Toronto)? Personally, I've never seen any store sell this, I mean I've seen the Shock Doctor footbed in Easton hockey skates, and footbeds for shoes, but I've never seen these footbeds sold separately for skates before?

I use the grey superfeet. I've used the Shock Doctors in older Bauers, and didn't like them as much. The Superfeet are more comfortable, for whatever reason.

As far as where to find them in T.O., don't know, but I've seen them in quite a few of my local LHS's.

Didn't wanna make a new topic

does anyone have any opinions on footbeds for me?

I can't use the Bauer ETF insoles that come with 8000s because they give me blisters. I tried using Nike Quest 1 insoles which fit perfectly but my feet are too elevated.

Anyone have any clues on what raises my foot higher than the ETF but lower than the Q1?

I get blisters with the ETF's as well right at the arches. Dunno bout you, but I did find that Graf 703 footbeds work perfectly. They're a little thicker, and the arches are a little higher. Blisters-b-gone.

I use them and personally like them. At first I thought they were too thick but after I got used to them, I think they make a difference.

Same. I own 8000s and I'm starting to get blisters at my right arch. I'll try putting the superfeet i used to use with my old vapors.

Wow guys, 8000 user too, but I've never had a problem. Yay me! :P

Sichy, I'm pretty sure I've seen the Shock Doctor's at National Sports...and the Superfeet's are available at Just Hockey (Don Mills/Lawrence).

we sell a TON of shock doctor foot beds in my shop. I used them in my 8090's because I didn't like the stock footbed. I like them, but as with any skate question it is all personal opinion.

I am wearing a 8090 5.5EE, I don't like the orginal footbed, and changed to shockdoctor (that is the only thing available in local hockey shop) I find that it's thicker, so that will take away some of the room in the boot.. but since my 5.5EE is a little bid roomy inside.. that works for me.. but it does slide around, maybe my skate is too wide for the 4.0 - 5.5 model. But I don't find it any different then not using it (other then giving me a more snug fit).

forgive me for being ignorant but if Toronto has sportcheks they sell both shockdoctors and superfeet greys. I've tried both and personally it's totally up to you. Both are around the same price and the shockdoctors are thicker. I liked the superfeet because my foot doesn't slide and it gives me a better feel as it's thinner.

8000s...perhaps one of the last great durable skates (besides vapor 10s..no not vapor Xs) ever produced by Bauer!

Yep, As far as I am concerned bauer can keep The X series. I have a pair of bauer 8090--love them. But I grew up wearing supremes and everbody tells me that the vapors are just a different skate. But I would like to add this the new one 90's are ugly as all hell--sorry just my opinion. purchased a second pair of the 8090 10D and a third if my wife will let me,companies change models to much--pisses me Off!

I've got Shock Dr's in my 703's and yep, they're a bit thicker. Also the arch is lower so that helps me a ton.

I honestly don't mind the extra thickness because I like snug skates.

And those raised whatever you call'ems on the footbeds looked they'd hurt but they actually don't. If you've seen the footbeds you'll know what I'm talking about.

In T.O. National Sports and SportChek carry BOTH ShockDoctor and SuperFeet insoles. I prefer the new grey SuperFeet. They are thinner, and cradle you in the heel where you need it most. I still use my old yellow ones that came with my Mission inlines, in all my hockey skates.

Sorry, but I think it's the most appropriate thread for this. I find that the arches are a touch small in my Vector Pro's (stock foot-beds) and I get a little pain on the side of my foot and heel occasionally due to the hard bottom.

Which of the two is thinner? I can get either of the two online, the shockdoctors for about $15, and the superfeet for about $25.

I'm assuming that the superfeet are the better ones based on price (2x the msrp) and the better reviews around here. Anyone use both?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Ok! I just went through this hole thread and I would like to address a new concern with footbeds and my Vapor XXX. I have about 4 hours on my vapors and I have noticed that they fit awesome but I think the Stock insoles are too thin. The bottoms of both my feet hurt like I have been walking on concrete all day barefoot. So Now I am thinking about a new footbed. Also the rivits are already coming through the stock footbeds. So I am looking for something that will basically be thicker in the center/ball of my foot area and won't mess with the width of this skate. Has anybody had this problem? and if so what did you do? And can anybody recommend a footbed that would be a little thicker than the stock.

Thanks

Hurricane.
