Typical Dman curve

Hi all, I woudl like to know what the average Dman curve is. Are they all like Lidstrom retail patterns (ie Heel wedges) or is that curve not a good choice because of the loft? So for all the Dmen in the forum: what curves do you guys use?

Alot of Dmen I know like to keep their curves closed in order to keep the puck low in dump ins and shots on net. I also seem to see a preference for square toes. That's just what I've seen. Other than that, they can vary greatly.

Just go with what feels good to you and what you like. Who cares what other guys at the position use? If you play great D with a toe curve, go for it. If you like wedges and big heels, go for it.

I though that the St Louis had a lie that would be to high for a d-man because they seem to like longer sticks. I may be wrong.

I have found the easton Forsberg blade to be a great universal curve. Find it very easy to backhand and control the height of my slapshot.

There is no "typical dman curve". For example, I use Iggy and another guy on my team uses Drury. It's all what you like and what works best for you.

im a dman... right now using kovalchuck (wish it had semi-square toe)... my dream curve is semi square, real dece heel wedge, LOW lie.... when i get my shewood custom sticks in january 9th (ordered them november 25th, lifes a bitch whatever) ill post some pics...

The only consistant preferences amongst D-men that I, as a forward, have noticed in my years playing is a preference for a squarish toe and a longer stick. Other than that I see tons of wedges through huge open or closed mid curves. I'd say a square toe and a higher lie would be characteristics of an 'average' defensemen's curve.
