Pants, or Girdle/shell

Recommended Posts

I need new pants, I am 6'3'' and about 230. I currently have Bauer 1000 pants, but I stood on the puck while in the crease and landed so hard on my tailbone that the plastic tailbone snapped on impact.

Three weeks later when I can finally sit down comfortably again I realise that I have no problems spending good money for higher end pants now, particularly since I am a larger gentleman.

I know most things are preference, but I was wondering does anyone have opinions on which they feel might be better for someone my size?

Should I stick to pants or should I go with a girdle.

Thanks

I just purchasd a pair of bauer 8000 (mail order) Awesome pant. has stretchy material around the legs so there is no leg restriction. This is the first pant that I have had that does not interfer with my crossing over. light as hell, but no zipper, you dont need it but the way I like to get dressed(shins over skates) I am going to have someone locally put one in. 8000 aren't sold locally( Metro Detroit) So I used the 6000 pant as a reference for size. but the 6000 are junk compared to the 8000.

this is a tighter fitting pant. I did'nt think I would like that but it still is loose around my legs. stays up around my waist. around 129.99

Take a look at the RBK 8K. Combines features of both girdle and pant construction into one.

You don't need zippers in the 8000. I've had mine for 18 months and dress the same way. As long as you keep the soakers on your skates when you put your pants on you'll be all set.

Get some upper end Tackla pants. Most pants don't fit someone 6-3 correctly and it's even worse if you have a longer torso. Tackla makes a "tall" version of their 9000 pant, they even make a "tall" version of their 4000 girdle if you really want to go that route.

Tackla's are extremely light while still being extremely well padded........someone in another thread stated "Tackla's make falling on your ass a dream". He was right. I hit a funny patch the other day and went down at full speed and hit the boards ass/kidney first.....everyone stopped assuming I was hurt.....I just popped right up, no harm no foul. I'm on my second pair of 5000x's and credit them with a lot of non-injuries. Chadd got me set up with my latest pair......great material, great fit (no suspenders, hugging the body in the wiast and up, loose through the legs). Highly recommended.
