althoma1 575 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 puckhoggy Posted Today, 09:30 PM hey guys, when it comes the the H600 farrell shoulder pads, how are they in all terms of use and function/durability?And are they worth $89+taxes CDN?I paid $80 Canadian for a used pair of H500 pads and am happy with them - they don't come down low so there isn't ab/rib protection, but the mobility is fantastic and I've had no issues with durability. They're protective enough for a beer league forward like me, but others on this board have found the protection somewhat lacking compared to other high end pads (if you search the board you'll find a few threads on them). The ability to customize the fit and protection is great - you can adjust the arms and sides and remove any of the plastic protective pieces (I've kept them on mine and they're still very mobile). I think they're a good buy for $89 + taxes - the H600s are supposed to be a bit lighter and they're black instead of white. Where can you get them for $89? I think the MSRP is closer to $150 on that model.

It was in orangeville - source for sports.BTW has anyone thought of taking the extension piece (stomach extension) off normal shoulder pads and just stick it on their farrell pads? and i also read a bunch of threads/posts and it seems ppl are split on the decision of the protection side, seeing it is short in terms of length .do u recommend the pads for contact leagues? or mostly non-check? Some guys here have used them in full check leagues and a few guys in the NHL use them (Dustin Penner is one).Keep in mind they run large. I'm using a medium and I'm 6'2", 215lbs with a 43" chest. I'm fine with that size, but large would likely be too big.
BlackIce 1 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 hey guys, when it comes the the H600 farrell shoulder pads, how are they in all terms of use and function/durability?And are they worth $89+taxes CDN?thxDude, where did you get them for $89 CND? One of the reasons as to why no one uses these in Canada is the outrageous price. $89 CND is well worth it. I had to pick mine up in the states. These are great pads for a beer league player. I'm 6' 200 and wear a medium. I probably could have fit into a small though. They run huge.
beerleaguecaptain 1004 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 I bought a pair and returned them. Everyone says they are big but in my case I found them too small. The bicep protection, in essence short sleeves, were way to small and the elastic starps were useless and short. They were also way too short - ending just under the chest. A great concept but a very poorly fit pad. I'm 5'10, 220 and bought a large. Oh.. enormous shoulder caps by the way. Weird.I ended up in V10's and I'm pretty pleased with those. They run huge. There was a source for sports in orangeville, ON selling them reg. $139ish while alllll other Ontario authorized dealers were selling them for $169-189ish. Luckily they only had one left in stock, a medium, and told me they would sell it for $89. Tried them on finally and found they were short as hell when it comes to stomach protection.I was thinking of waiting for new shipments to come in and try a large, but decided to bite the bullet. i thought if i got a large i would be lost in it in the sense of upper protection. (althought lower body protection would be improved to a medium)im looking right now at the shouldies and thinking if i should take the tags off now or after i visit anther hockey shop this wkend. lolI bought a pair and returned them. Any suggestions for elbow pad brand/models?

I love them but they didn't sit well with the Farrells. The RBKs are kinda thick up around there. In fact, I'm actually thinking of trying on a pair of the V10 elbows in the the thought that they might match up better with my V10 shoulders. In other words... I haven't got a damn clue!!! puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 hey all,so im loving the shoulder's pads mobility and ive also removed the attachable shoulder caps since i dont play checking. to recap i bought the Farrell H600 shoulder pads (size M)...and yes they are short in length compared to other pads in that price range, but what i did was used a couple of my old shoulder pad's removable stomach pieces and attached it to the front and back of the farrell pads.i went to wal-mart and bought a few adhesive velcro square packages. each box came with a set of 12 pairs of velcro squared measured at 7/8" (so like 2.2cm). i then just stuck them on any of the squares on my shoulder pads where i would want additional velcro squares so i can either attach the stomach pieces like i said from my old pads, or else if i wanted a tight fit, clean look, and didnt want the velcro straps of the shoulder pads to cling and rip the inside liner, i just stuck them on there to prevent any tearing.hope this helps anyone thinking of grabbing the Farrell pads. also contacted Farrell and they said they would ship a pair of the hard movable plastic pieces for $10 (if you wanted more protection, or use them as a substitute of the shoulder caps. puckhoggy 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 could you post some pics?ya ill post some pics once i look into how to post a proper pic on this forum.SO after playing last night in an arena where i was sweating bullets just by lacing up my skates. i was non stop sweating in the rink just by how how it was on the bench and even when playing. i came to the disappointment that when i took off my shoulder pads a few of the adhesive velcro blocks would fall off the liner if i just peeled it a little. it only occurred in the areas where i would have heavily sweated, otherwise all the other ones were perfectly held strong.it's either i sweated way too much at that rink or else from me picking at them every time i suit up. since im so happy with the shoulder pad modification i usually pick at the velcro while im smiling :D lolso since i have a problem at the moment, and i dont feel like stitching just yet, WHAT kind of glue is suitable for clothing and such? I bought some "advanced " krazy glue but it indicated nothing about use on clothing, and i have read it will "burn" through materials like cloth. So does anyone know what kind of glue is suitable for clothing, specifically a wicking liner on shoulder pads?thanks
