Best Visor Cage Combo

Recommended Posts

I used to play without a face shield until I took a puck to the face and shattered my orbital bone. 13,000 dollars in reconstructive surgery later and i've been wearing a cage ever since. Anywho, I want the freedom of no bars again and am looking into getting a good shield/cage combo. i tried a full shield and I just didn't like it as much as I would imagine (kinda fogged over and stuff and i don't wanna deal with it). I don't want to go half shield, and am starting to lean towards the combo's. Anyone know which combo's are the best for great vision/durability. I take good care of my stuff and am looking for something I can invest some money into and use for a long time. Open for suggestions.

I'm guessing it was Rustybender, Just guessing.

If your in a hurry, I'd stick with the Itech or Oakley, or if not so much, try Rusty's and see if you like that, or try and wait for the New Itech Visor/Cage

I'd like to have one by the end of the month or close to it. When do the new Itechs come out?? Does anyone have a pic? What are price ranges like for the Oakleys or the new itechs?

edit: Oh and yes it was rustybender who nailed me in the face with the puck. But he will attest that I kept skating with a shattered orbital bone before going off the ice to butterfly the gash on my face. And had surgery on a tuesday and played again on thursday. Total days of hockey missed due to reconstructive surgery- 11.

is there more than 1 kind of oakley combo? I just looked at some online and like the wide view. Maybe that will be my next investment. I saw tht they were kinda expensive, anyone know if I can get them for cheaper at some online stores. or LHS near NEBRASKA.

i think that half visors should only be worn by players who have some sense of the game, and can be aware of the play at all times, and are comfortable enough on their skates and whatnot not to fall or end up in an akward position. if you fit the bill, you might try a lower cut itech visor, for more protection. if this isn't the case, i used the chrome itech cage for the past few years and liked it alot. i think the older style jopha/euro style/ bubble style calge looks rad, but i dunno how it performs. i know a kid with one and it seems to work well for him thus far. if you go for a full cage, go for one that fits your face properly. that makes a world of difference.
