Looking for Shin Guards

Recommended Posts

I am in the market for a new pair of shin guards and need some help. I want them to be light and narrow, no big knee pad. Does anyone know how the new RBK 7K fit?

What would you suggest??

Mike

The RBK 7k is somewhat bulky but is a very protective shin pad. If you want something that is a little narrower and less bulky look at Easton's line of shin pads. The Synergy 900 is lightweight and low profile, but it still offers a lot of protection.

I would suggest the Easton Synergy shin pads. They are really light and do a good job of providing good protection without a lot of bulk and/or weight. You might not like the little flap on top the knee though.

i have the 7k and while it is very protective, it is one of the most mobile pads i have ever used. i have long legs (16" shins) and they seem to be pretty narrow for me (i have small calves). i absolutely love them, best pad ive ever used

I have both the 8k and Snergy 900 and love them both. The Snergys are really a lot less bulky than the 8K's and still give me more than adequate protection. I prefer the Easton fit more but stick to the Reeboks because their the most protective on the market. Both excellent shin pads, pick one.

They are ok if you like that the pad is resting on just two spots on your shin (those two rubber-like pads). The same way the 6Ks do. In the store they feld nice, but on the ice i didnt like that feeling at all ... now ive got the 5Ks which feel great!! A little bukly but light and protective.

So i would say it dont ever has to be top-end, the 5Ks are very nice shin pads! (the 4Ks too, if you like these 2 rubber straps)

RBKs are great for protection, but even the 6k's are bulky...I'd go for Easton, great protection and very narrow.

Well the RBK:s are very solid, comfy and protective! I use the JOFA 9090:s which fits the same as the RBK:s and i wouldn't say that the knee pad is that big. The shin part is a bit bulky yes, but that's fine with me. It doesn't bother me at all since they're so comfy, protective and light (i.m.o.) I wouldn't hesitate, but that's just me. :)

I have worn my 8ks since September, At first since they were bulky it took a practice or so to get used to, now i dont feel the difference. Lots of protection for a defense like myself. Although i cant say much about the Synergys as i never wore them the 8k or 7k would be my choice.

If you find the RBK:s to bulky you can heat them up with a hairdryer or a heatgun (carefully) and wrap some hockeytape around them and leave them overnight to cool. Remove the tape next day and they're not bulky anymore...

I've done this my self and know lots of people doing that when they move up from 13 inch to 14". It allways goes well, but be carefull if you use a heatgun though...
