Why do alot of pro shops ( probably depends on the area, i'm from chicago) not carry wide width skates?

is it because it'd be to expensive?

I know what you mean. They carry stock of the regular D-width and perhaps some EE (Bauer/Nike) or E (CCM/RBK). I'm in a C/A width CCM Tacks, and have a hard time to get my hands on them. They don't sell enough off them and therefor dont want to have any in stock. :(

It's all about what sells. If only a few people ask for wide skates, why would shops stock them? Shops will carry products that are popular and in demand.

But I do find it odd that this would be the case in Chicago. Perhaps the shops are simply out of stock and waiting for manufactures to fill orders. This is probably what is happening.

Where are you in chicago? Ive played hockey in chicago about every weekend, and Almost everytime Ive been, theres been a good proshop around. Prob. could just ask them to ship the skates in for you.

Don't blame the pro shops, blame the manufacturers. They change models nearly EVERY year. If a shop stocks E width skates, they loose their shorts at the end of the year when the models are discontinued. E widths dont sell easy, if you get stuck with them, your screwed.
