Tour Code E2

Recommended Posts

Can anyone give me some information on these skates or if anyone has tried them yet please give me some ratings on them compared to the Code 1's. I have tried the Code 1's on and know how they feel......amazingly light and comfy. I am looking to see if the E2's are comparable for a $100 cheaper. Same wheels/bearings/chassis lead me to believe the weight is essentially equal. I have the G-80's right now and love them so if they are comparable to those that is good too.

Speaking of G-80's......will be selling mine with RR Hornets on them, size 8.5 for $75. PM me if you are interested.

Not that I can add anything TOO constructive but..

about 2 months ago I was at Jerry's (I'm sure you remember that place) and the Tour rep was there with all the 06 stuff. I got to really get familiar with every skate in their current 06 lineup.

I did the charmin test (lol) by squeezing the bottom and mid portion of the skate, and it was about 90% as stiff as the Code 1. I think the toungue was different, and that was the major difference. To me, it seemed like an amazing skate for the price.

Also...if you read the news section on tour's website, it mentions a bit about how the the Code e2's are praised as everything and more than the code 1 by alot of testers.

Remember, the Code 1 was rushed out, it seems. The E2 had more time for R&D, so it may be a more solid skate.

It does seem like that for most copanies the second best skate in the line up is just as good or better than the top model...It seems like the diffrence is like wheels or possiablly the frame...and those can be replaced for cheaper than it is to buy the top model...

I personally have always like the second tier model as I don't usually like really stick boots because I skate so low to the ground. I just wanted to confirm my decision to buy the Code E2's. I will be getting them soon and will let everyone know the verdict.

Jerry's is a wonderful place. I used to know a lot of guys that worked there when I was in High School and in my first years in College. I used to get free sharpening and discounts......it was nice. Would be nice to have a hockey shop like that down here is podunk FL.

the e2 did have more time in R&D but the code1s were definently not rushed out.. they were being made for a couple years now and tested by many players so they would hold up.. I know from a tester that said the e2s were stiffer than the code 1s.. pretty much the same skate.. i dont know how the comfort is between the 2 but other than that they are very similar

I guess the trend continues with the second tier skates being better than the top level.

OK if the second tier has been notoriously better, would you go with missions 950's or 750's in the He line. I'm just curious cause I'm making a purchase soon and there's no place around here to demo or even look at the high end skates. I have to get them online so I'm kinda hesitant to jump into a crappy skate.

Hold the phone!

Is there any way you can spring for something else? I had the opportunity to compare my 9500's to a teammates '05 950's, and they were NOTHING alike. The 950's are HALF as stiff, and he's blown out 2 complete sets of Factory Z rated's. you've got $259 to spend if you're going for the 950's, right? Do yourself a huge favor and go with the 06 7500 skate, which is the same pricerange. 10x better skate. Justin personally told me that the 5500 skate is just as stiff and in some areas better than the 950. Do yourself a favor and look at the 06 stuff.

I know that was the case with most of the Tour skates. I had the 962's which were better than the Fishbones and I have the Bluemaxs which I preferred over the Beemers. G-series was crap. I don't know about the 06 Missions though so I don't want to sway your decision because of that, but a lot people seem to like them. I currently have the 8K pumps which I'm absolutely in love with.

thanks I guess I really haven't looked indepth into the new 06 missions. I have some time to compare and contrast but out of the 06 line which would you recommend. My price range can vary depending on quality.

All I've personally seen is the 5500s, 9500s, and the 10000s (via people who play on Team Mission Detroit and such) for the new line. The 5500's are great skates for the price. For $199 they are a decent stiffness and even the wheels, bearings and other things are pretty good. A few members on here already have the 7500's, and swear they are some of the stiffest 3rd level skates theyve ever seen. Those are $269 I believe. If you want a super top tier skate, I reccomend the 9500. I just got mine the other night, and skated in them too. It's definitely the stiffest, most responsive boot I've ever used, and that says alot from a past owner of Wicked lights. They're REALLY stiff everywhere, from top to bottom, if you like that kind of thing. They're really lightweight, and the wheels are the best i've ever used, bar none.

Honestly, I was a skeptic from owning a pair of crappy, crappy D2c's, but these things are the best thing mission has put out. I feel like they took the awesome V series of yesteryear and made them 10x better.

You could go for a pair of 05's, but you'd be dissapointed I think. Even a pair of 5500's (which MANY at my rink use) are great skates.

What are you skating on now?

I'm currently on the last leg of some tr 902 tour skates. I just looked at some online and I am more interested in the 5500's out of the ones you mentioned. you said they got some good reviews?

If your price range is the Mission 7500 range ($269) then you might want to look at the skate mentioned at the start of this thread, the Tour Code E2. Obviously, since you have Tour skates already you will probably like these. I have had every series of Tour's so far, within reason.....the 962's, great skate, the G-80's which everyone says sucked but I like them a lot. The only thing I didn't like was the odd wheel lineup. If you can try a pair of the E2's on you can find them on eBay for $265 with free shipping as opposed to the $300 you pay anywhere else. I tried the 7500's on and just didn't like them at all, but then again everyone likes something different.

That's correct. Justin personally told me that the 06 5500's were just as stiff as the 950's, if not stiffer. Everything about that skate is better than last years, minus the chassis. It still has abec 9 bearings, and rink rat hot shot wheels too. Like I said, TONS of guys at my rink have them, and they're great.

Also, if you have a wide flat foot, the tours may be better suited for you. I have a feeling that if you only want to spend $199 or so, you'd be better with 5500's.

What about the Tour beemers? Has anyone gotten any feedback? I'm looking at around 200-250 for skates. Give or take. I'll go search, but I'd like to hear a comparison to the skates mentioned.

I don't remember much of the beemers. A guy on my team has them. He says they're good skates, but a little on the heavy side. There really wasn't much buzz about them.

That's what I was thinking. It realy was a quiet release for the price they came out at. Kinda surprised many people didn't take notice to them. Are they really heavy? The ones I have now are pretty heavy and I would like to switch to a lighter skate.

What made the Beemers so heavy was the all 80 mm wheel setup. When I treied them on, they didn't feel as stiff as did the Bluemaxs. The boot is really comfortable but the reason I don't realy use them anymore was because I couldn't really get used to the all 80 setup. What you lose in agility you make up in speed.

I never got a chance to hold his skate, let alone actually skate on it, so I couldn't tell you.

A search on this site shows it's a softer boot than the bluemax. I tried a bluemax on and did not like it one bit. But then again, I have a narrow, small foot. Epuck reviews of the beemer seem to be good, although no one mentions weight or lightness. The sad thing is that light skates tend to cost more. apparently the hallmark of these skates is the supreme comfort.

I went to my LHS, well not really local, 1 1/2 hours away, and held the Beemer and Code 1 next to eachother. The weight difference was huge. Not only are the wheels/bearings on the code 1 lighter but the chassis appears to take away from some of the weight as well. Also, if you look in the description of the Code 1's on any site it will mention some lightweight technology used in the boot, also taking some of the weight down. What's the difference between the Code 1 and E2, not sure but the E2 looks damn good for $300.

Again, teamriot, check out ebay. I have seen on several occasions a set of E2's for $265 with free shipping, not bad for a top of the line skate essentially.

only problem with the E2s for you.. youve been skating on the 902s which has a hi-lo chassis. This is going to be a switch for you from the hi lo to the beemer. The E2 is a good skate.. i know a bunch of tour testers who have tested the code1s and stuff well before they came out and now have worn the E2s and say the E2s are stiffer. The boot is pretty much the same between the E2s and Code1s.. maybe a little weight difference or internal materials used. I have the mission 9500s.. LOVE them.. the 7500 is a great skate.. for you its still a hilo chassi and a great skate. Its a very stiff skate.. as are all the mission skates this year (def atleast from the 5500 up to the 10000)

When i was breaking in my 9500s i didnt get 1 blister and player open hockey every friday night for 2-3 hours and had highschool games the same weekends and league games during the week. So I was playing non stop and thought the boot was comfortable. Peoples feet are shaped differently so maybe you will get a blister here and there.. people are saying how stiff the boot is but even when ur breaking in the skate its not that bad.. again the choice is up to you.. i think your main decision is maybe going from a hi lo on your 902s to a beemer or keeping the hi lo.. some people get used to it really quick, some do but after some time, and some hate it.. i would start from there..

thats all i got to say..

I really want to stick with a hi-lo. Is there any top line tour skate that still incorporates the hi-lo? otherwise I might look further into a pair of 5500's or 7500's
