Datsuk's deke on Turco

Recommended Posts

OF course he put a head and shoulder fake into the fake shot, most guys do. It's actually hard not to do that and easy to read as a fake if you don't. Turco was off balance and off to one side of the net, that move wouldn't work if he was in the middle of the net and he was in position.

It was a nice play but I still stand by my assertion that for as good as most people claim to be here, it's not that difficult.

For me, Datsyuk's goal was the goal the year. It's not just the move that amaze me, it's how graceful Datsyuk has move.

i disagree. I forgot who it was, but my goal of the year goes to the guy who flipped the puck over the goalie, then dove head first and hit the puck out of mid air into the net. Malhotras diving goal was pretty sweet too.

That was Peter Shaeffer (sp) who flipped it over the goalie

i dont think he was that far out of position if at all, datsyuks move through him off balance im not saying that it was the best move ever but i personally think its a great move. i mean around here at drop in and stuff we have some good goalies come goalies of ohl caliber some that do play ohl. i have tried the move on them and it works quite well they can be as good as a position as they want they just get faked out by it.

The Datsyuk goal was nice, definately one of the best of the year, but it is not that difficult like Ljack says. The moves that went along with the fake come second nature to myself and most other people at a fairly high level of hockey. As well I tend to fake shot on my left foot, like he did. The big thing was that Turco bit on it, take a look at the Roloson save. The move doesn't look spectacular at all when the goalies well positioned.

no move looks spectacular when the goalie is well positioned and doesnt bite for the fake and makes an easy save. any fake can be a routine save as long as the goalie doesnt get tricked by the move.

That goal was also scored against Turco (the flip shot). What a goal it was.

True, but Turco bit really easily, and thus made himself extremely vulnerable. I thought part of what made it so great was the fact he could've stopped and waited for Turco to get up before he shot, he had that much time. Different goalies will play situations differently. He tried the same move in similar situations, but on different goalies. One took the bait the other didn't. In my opinion, it was a great goal on Turco, but he looked like a joke trying it on Roloson. He's just a more patient goalie.

Tuckers was still the goal of the year against Pitts. It deflected off his stick, chest length in front of the net, he does a 270 and knocks it in backhand top shelf without looking at it.

I think this deke will rarely succeed against a goalie who is more of a standup style.

If you're playing a standup goalie you should be shooting for the low corners, not trying to deke him.

i think if that move had been tried in the middle of a 1-1 playoff game, the result wouldve been different. great move, but certainly not the best goal of the year, it does looks nice full speed though

It was a faked shot and a heel drag. Turco was out of position and overreacted on the fake. It was nice but nothing that anyone here couldn't do. Most people would have gone to the backhand after the fake and changed the angle even more than Datsyuk did.

He did make turco look silly, but with all the hype I wasn't impressed when I saw it.

Datsyuk didn't make himself look dumb, Turco did. Like its been said, it was a simple move that was pulled off fast, but it looked like it did because Turco sucked it up.

He tried that dumb move again the very next game on a penalty shot. I can't remember the goalie (I think it was Belfour) but the guy didn't even have to move to save it.

He only fooled Turco because he was out of position. Plus Dat's leg made it look like he was going to shoot, while instead he dragged the puck and then roofed it. Plus we are talking Eddie the Eagle Here :D

Id like to see him try it on Cujo or a nother goalie who stays deep in the net. It defineatly wouldnt work.
