Do Play It again Sports employees get discounts?

Recommended Posts

I know they're a Mission Inline authorized dealer, and they sell some hockey gear as well.

Anyone work for them? or have worked for them? My job at Circuit City may be dissapearing as we have a new RM, DM, and GM and they want to change the direction of the store. I figured I could work at a LHS or PIAS to get some cash, and help fund gear, if they get discounts.

Also, do most LHS hire from within...such as local kids who work there? I don't play ice at all, and didn't want to be biased against.

Thanks!

I know someone who worked at a PIAS and he got a discount but it really wasent much of one, but this store didnt really carry a ton of hockey gear or have a ton coming in off the street so moybe if you worked at a store where they had lots of gear the discount would be worth it...The reason it wasent worth it for him was like I said lack of in store gear, so by the time they special ordered stuff and with shipping etc... it didnt turn out to be a good discount....I dont think a LHS would be biased if you didnt play ice hockey, as long as you have good sound hockey knowledge on the equipment you sell, it shouldnt matter...so be sure to study up on the gear.

It all depends on the shop. Some owners/managers make the various retail employee programs available to their employees and others only offer a small discount. Most shops I've seen do require someone to work for a while before giving them good deals to prevent guys from getting hired, buying a bunch of stuff, then quitting.

i never worked at play it again sports but i did use to work at sportchek (largest sports chain in canada) and ever year we would get pro-deals on all the new line of hockey stuff... most of the major hockey companies do it including mission. i was able to get my D1 and flyweights for half the retail price when they first came out

I do think I have a pretty good general hockey knowledge, I just don't know how to sharpen skates...yet.

I guess I ought to apply and see what happens..Eagles, can you special order Mission gear? and do you only get 20% off of that?

Maybe if your lucky, you could get in contact with your rep, and he could work you a special deal. That's what I do for some things.

Mission used to have the best retail employee program by a mile. Now it's similar to most others.
