The chucklehead sprained an ankle playing basketball on an "off" day. Basketball and softball are two extremely dangerous sports to hockey players. He finally scored a couple of goals and now gets hurt. The Olympic lay-off is coming up, too. I heard NHLers cannot skate as a team during the lay-off. Can anyone confirm this is true?

Basketball is terrible for the ankles, but it is a good workout. I believe the prohibition on practicing was to prevent a team from forcing non-olympians to practice every day during the lockout. I would think you will have large groups of players skating together so they can all be ready once the Olympics are over.

Detroit went to Orlando during the 98 and 02 Olympic break and skated the second week during the Olympics. I believe they came in on a Thursday and were out by Sunday.
