Red Star frames = Easton

Recommended Posts

Just curious: did Easton use to make the Red Star roller chassis?

I saw something on the internet recently regarded to an Easton E-frame gold chassis, which is the red star e-frame, but well, gold.

Anyone have details about this?

Also, it looks like Red Star may not be making frames anymore. They have all been removed from their website.

Steve, your right Red Star stop making frames(I know the Alloys for sure, and probublly the E-frames as well) because with the frames that come on high end skates now being so good, there was just not a market for after-market frames anymore( Thats coming from Red Star themselves) As far as Easton making thier frames, Im really not sure about that, I dont think they did though....The Gold frames your refering to came on Easton Gold inlines a few years ago(basically an ultra light boot) the frame was just a E-frame that was gold, there is also a Sherwood E-frame out there as well that came on some sherwood inlines a few years ago, But Im pretty sure Red Star produced their own frames within the company...Maybe this helps explain it for ya...

I second that Red Star's site did go down hill, nothing there anymore really...

It was just Easton and Sher-wood putting their name on the e-frame. A great frame, best i've used! The sher-wood e-frames on hockeygiant are a bargin at $39.

Agreed.

And those Easton gold skates were garbage in case anyone was thinking about picking up a a pair second hand. The only part of 'em worth a crap was the frame and wheels.

I like the look of the red star gold frame, but good luck in finding any. :(

Over all, I've been very happy with my red star magnesiums. Very light and strong. I just get scared sometimes I'm going to strip out the frame where the axles screw in. Luckily, a little lock tite (blue kind) helps hold the axles in place.

Red Star would have had to pay royalties to Mission for the Hi-Lo patent or maybe there was a cease and desist?

Hey Jim whats this mean..."cease and desist"? I know Mission claimed they came up with the Hi-lo idea, and Im sure they did, but I remeber way back in the day when Missions came with those USA str8 76mm frames, and around the same time Mission came out with the Hi-lo thing Red Star was there too I had those old green E-frames way way back in the day. I wonder if Red Star took the idea from Mission?...Either way I think the Red Star frames hold up way way better than Mission frames ever did....I wonder if Red Star got around the patent by using the single axle system instead of the dual?...But I do know for a fact Red Star stop producing frames because the market for after market frames is just to small to be profitable these days.

Some older mission chassis were single axle as well.
