helmet problem

Recommended Posts

I'm currently using a bauer 5000 hockey helmet that is about a year old and is still under warrenty acording to my local hockey store, and the back piece of the shell has totally become detached and has a small dent in it, I took it to my Local Hockey Store and they contacted bauer. Bauer siad they acutally have to see the helmet to do anything which is ok by me. The store owner told me that by looking at the helmet himself that Bauer would almost for sure sent me a new piece or a new helemet. I have no problems sending my helemt in if i'm going to get a new helmet, but if it's just a new piece i'll wait till the end of the saison cause tournament time is coming up very shortley . So i have a few questions about BauerNike's.

Q: How long do you think it would take?

Q: Has anybody had any expierences with there warranty program?

Q: Has this ever happenened to anyone?

Q: (for the experts) Do you think i would recieve a new piece or a new helmet?

any comments, advice or anything for a matter of fact will be greatley appreciated, hope you can sortof understand what i'm trying to say, i'll try to get some pictures up with the next few days. Thanks alot Michael

helmets ive been told can be replaced in-store for warranties aslong as you have the receipt your store should be able to put the receipt on your helmet and send it to nikebauer for either a credit or replacement.

total time it took for my 4000 was about 2-3 weeks. that included shipping to bnh and from bnh, and the "5 day" evaluation period. overall i was very happy with the process. shipping on my end cost me about 15usd. i was even able to get a different color.

I'd demand a new helmet. You've paid good money and the thing has broken when it's supposed to hold up to some abuse. Get a new helmet or get an equal replacement from another manufacturer. I hear the new Mission Intake is a pretty good helmet. ;)

Ask them if they can send you a new one and give them your credit card. Then, if they evaluate it and dont' want to give you a new one they can charge you. I don't know if it will work or not with Bauer, but I have done this with other products in the past.

Do think i have a better change of getting a new helmet, if i send it my self with a personal letter, or if i send it from my local hockey store?

your LHS should replace it with a your bill and give you a new helmet that is broken or if you wanted to upgrade they would most likely just charge you the difference because when your LHS sends the helmet in they will either A)get a credit from NBH or B)Get a new helmet for there stock from NBH. Helmets can be replaced in store because its one of the most important pieces of a players equipment, sticks can be sent back because you can always buy a woodie or have a replacement stick. So yeah your LHS should replace it on the spot for you

if you lhs store can't replace it on the spot, then go to another store with a solid return policy, buy the exact same lid, keep the box, and when your replacement comes in, return it back to the store. Although some people may have ethical issues about that, but if you describe your situation to the manager of the store, I'm pretty they'll sympathize with you. Buckets aren't cheap. I don't know about you guys, but $100 doesn't fall into my hands every second.
