Is the Stealth designed to be so wippy?

Recommended Posts

Before buying my Stealth Grip I had a Synergy Grip and SL Grip. The normal Synergy and SL had a strong flex that led me to believe it was indeed 100 flex. Now I broke the Synergy a while ago and last week broke the SL and bought a Stealth Grip. I've used it twice before last night and during warm ups at my hgh school game the stick felt extremely flexy. Almost like it was going to break with a slap shot. I talked to a friend that's been through about 6 and he sai it is made out of carbon or something and is made to do that. I'm just wondering if I have a deffective stick or is the Stealth a lot more wippy than the SL and normal Synergy?

Stealth is indeed a lot softer than the same flex on other sticks. I think it´s basically because of the thinner shaft wall.

yeah all mine have been like that. I used to only use stiff or 100 flex sticks, since the stealth ive prefered the flex so ive moved down to regular flex sticks.

I agree with SR27 about the thinner shaft walls.

The Numbers Don't Lie All right, I finally got around to measuring the shaft circumference of an Easton Stealth vs. a standard 2004 Synergy. I measured both sticks smack dab in the middle, and the result is: The Stealth is 1/8 of an inch thinner than a standard synergy. Hmmm . . . I also measured both sticks at the top of the shaft and the results were exactly the same (the Stealth does not have a taper at the top of the shaft.)

Using the Industry Standard Length of 57", multiplied by .125 (1/8 of an inch) total circumference peeled off the Synergy to get the Stealth is 7.125 inches, which is 12.5% of the shaft. Thus when you reduce the weight of a 455 gram Synergy by 12.5% you get a 398.125 gram Stealth. Take away all the BS marketing of manipulating materials, and fancy hocus-pocus. All Easton did was shrink the Synergy and Voila we have a 395 gram Stealth.

The Numbers Do Lie Well over half the people I know who own Stealth's have broken it well within the first month. So where does Easton get off putting a 9/10 Durability on the Stick? They made a thinner, slimmer Synergy with a longer taper. Aside from a made up technology called Therma-Tec, what proof does Easton offer that a skinnier, thinner, lighter version of the Synergy could be more durable? Just cause marketing told production to paint a 9/10 on the shaft. Where does that number even come from? Marketing's imagination, that is where. It's made up. From what I have seen of the Stealth Durability should be 4/10. And any credible engineer will tell you as a rule of thumb, when performance increases, you compromise durability. And in this case the only way performance was increased by making a slimmer lighter version. It's an insult to anyone who knows anything about hockey equipment for Easton to put a 9/10 Durability Rating on a Stealth Stick.

Despite what was said (or measured) in that other thread the blades of the stealth are still a lot different (especially thinner) than the ones on the Synergy.

I had a 110 stealth and it felt no different then my 110 Sl, or Z bubble. And it lasted longer then my Sl. It felt like the kick point was lower like my Z bubble.

So the thing about it being made out of another material is a lie.  Also it did feel like it had a lower kick point.

And what exactly are those pics supposed to show? Can you tell what materials were used just by looking at them? Funny, you try to poke holes in Easton's marketing by accepting someone else's.

eh..like they said the vapor xxx has a lower kickpoint, because it's a true-1-piece...

i thought, the stealth has a lower kickpoint as the synergy, because of the section, where they're molded?! O.o

JD and Sam were saying the other night that Sykora on the Rangers feels his slapshots are really off with the new CNT Stealth he's been using. He loves his snap and wristshots, but feels something is lost with the whippyness of the stick and his slappers. Guess it's all PP.

Modo9, Group: Banned.

HAHAHAH. Hilarious. He had some good points though. If I remember his basic point, was that he said no new technology was used with Stealths and SLs just that the shaft dimensions were smaller, shafts were thinner, resulting in lighter shafts. I have to agree after owning an SL. The shaft is definately thinner.

But don't ban me!
