Tblades, A Day by Day Journal.

Now, that's a good post! :D

And it's crazy he said to you what he did. Either he's getting chintzy over $100 or they really have terrible QC. If my products were terrible, I'd pull the products before telling a customer the product broke because we make terrible products.

I'd lean toward the first choice, but come up with a better reason than the product that broke in an hour lived up to standards. Say you're over budget for returns. Say your cat died. But don't say they're only designed to last an hour.

lol I wasn't making myself clear now.

And btw, we should keep this thread going. Because now I have 2 pairs of t'blades, and next season I might use them for officiating. If people can post up good and bad experiences regarding these things, maybe we can make the whole subject a little clearer. I for one don't have enough information to definately pass judgement on them.

But obviously it's more than an argument about wether they melt the ice better/glide faster.

I have a son who is a pretty good skater playing peewee level A. He has been skating in Vector Pro's for the past 2 years and has been very pleased with them, fit and preformance. Now he needs to move up to a senior size skate he been looking for a new pair and is thing about the ZG130's with T-blades. is this good idea, how bad or good will it effect his skating?

It is a change. Both Salmingusa and I have noticed that you do have to change your stride a little bit. He will feel like he is in his heels more and it might take a week for him to feel back up to par on his skating.

I loved my tblades, but I dont rave about them anymore now that I have a good sharpener. I still feel that there is a difference between normal steel and tblades, but both have their own sets up advantages and disadvantages. I find that some people fanatically love them and some people morbidly hate them.

There is a good sharpener about 75miles from here. I don't make it over there very often and with the cost of gas and sharpening it would cost me $50 a month for sharpenings. That's one sharpening a month (skate once a week).

I'm interested in the t-blades for a few reasons:

I could get the replacement runners with shipping for $20-$25 from said LHS. If they last 3-5 times as long as sharpening that would equate to say $25 for 3months.

I have a 6 month season here, that's $50 a season for the t-blades vs. $300 for conventional sharpening!!!

Also I'm interested in the Repeatable! hollow/rocker thing with the t-blades, and being able to experiment with and switch back to various hollow/rocker combinations.

The lightweight thing doesn't really matter to me, but it doesn't hurt.

Once I did find the right hollow/rocker combination I could repeat it indefinitely for $5-$8.33 a month compared to $50 a month!

I think in my situation the t-blades present a very viable option.

It costs you $50 for one sharpening and gas to drive 150 miles? Either you're paying way too much for sharpening, or you're driving a Hummer, or both. You may also want to consider sharpening by mail.

The cost savings is hogwash. T'blade users skate longer on them to justify the higher cost.

I used my T'Blades 2-3 times before I felt like I couldn't skate anymore and had to stick in new blades. Sadly I still have them and have to deal with them. I skate great with them when they are sharp, but whenever I get new skates(most likely One90s, I'll try to get them profiled in a similar shape) I'm definitely staying away from the T'Blades for good.

I just picked up a pair of 130ZG's. First time out at stick & puck on the t-blades was pretty good, they're certainly loud though. (I never was a quiet skater anyways) Will give them a try in a game tonight to see how they stack up against my 7K's.

Ya - I've been mailing my Mission blades to noicingsports and get excellent sharpenings with an added cost of only 8 bucks for the priority post both ways. Plus - I send 3 sets of blades so its really only a few bucks extra per set.

My local rink does not have experienced people to sharpen and I had thought about t-blades as an option - but I am digging my current setup and mailing my blades to an experienced sharpener.

haha

i agree. the day i got my zg110's i went to a skate and shoot and i noiced the loudness too.

i used the t-blades on v-12s and loved them, till i got grafs. i tried skating in my t-blades the other night and it was really different for me. i dont think i will ever switch back to t-blades, but when i had them i loved them

:ph34r: I was just kind of thinking out loud about the potential cost savings. I've never used t-blades, I was just wondering if they would be worth trying!

Try them if you want.. but like I have said to 100s of others here on this board, you will either love them, or you will hate them.

I may be in the minority, but cost doesn't matter to me -- I only care whether the skating is better. That said, it's not even close how many more times I can skate with the t'blades before I begin to notice they are dulling versus my previous pair. Whether that adds up to a cost savings on a per session price, who knows?

Also not worried about cost. Main selling point to me is consistency.

I'm gonna try t-blades on my 705's, If I hate them, I'm only out $100.

Does anyone know the pitch of the t-blades. I like the pitch of my cobra holders, will I need heel lifts?

i was on them for about a year. and i didnt like them, when i got my new skates i had a game the day of. so i thought i would try them out in warm up, and i could not skate, at all the blades were very slow on the ice and i was falin frward like mad. i acctuly couldnt skate, after one lap in warm up and went to the dressin room and quicly put on my other skates. what i am sayin here is all t blades do is make you skate like a goof

That's so true. Because the t'blades have a lower profile, it requires altering your stride slightly to hit the edges. It took me about five sessions of feeling like I was skating on butter knives, before I finally got the angles right.

i'm still going strong with the salming's. I used a set of blades for 20 games and when i switched to a new set I actually liked my duller blades better. I think I'm going with a 15 hollow instead of a 13 for my next set.

It literally only took me a game to adjust. It's not for everybody but without a doubt these skates have suited me well.

I ordered the 15 hollow, I'm used to 1/2" hollow on standard blades.

Does anyone know the actual radius length of the t-blade; short, medium and long rockers? I'm used to the 11' radius, I ordered the long rocker runners to start off with.

For some reason I've got it the following written down:

L = 11' radius, +1 Pitch

M = 9' radius, 0 Pitch

S = 9' radius, + 1 Pitch

I got that from Smart Hockey, but it's probably out of date.

While on the t-blade web site the graphic has

L = 11' radius

M = 11' radius

S = 9' radius

and mentions nothing about pitch.

http://www.t-blade.com/features/4/preview2.jpg

But both seem to agree that L = 11' radius.

Got the t-blades today, took me 2hours to mount them! Got it done, skating them friday and sunday. Will let you know what I think.

I'm a very picky person, it won't take me long to decide if I love 'em or hate 'em.

One skate. Hate 'em. stopped better. loud. felt like my skate was sliding out from under me during push-off. no speed because of this. wasted $100, but now I know.
