Mission 9500's on the way

Recommended Posts

I broke down and paid the big bucks and have a pair of new 9500's on the way. Has anyone had any bad experiences with these yet? I know they have been covered alot in many threads, but I do not remember anyone saying anything at all bad about them. Even down to the stock wheels and bearings, is anything not "top shelf".

Thanks

no, pretty sweet the whole way around. After last years models Mission made sure that all the skates this year were as good as they could be and it shows.

Grow a pair of yam bags and stop complaining about the break in.....Easily the best skates I have ever put on. Durability will not be an issue...missions 9500's are easily better than any other 'top of the line' skate on the market...hands down.

one bad thing i've heard is that it's VERY stiff and you might go through some pain breaking them in.

That will be a good problem to have. As they say "Pain is weakness leaving your body". Just think how much stonger I'll be getting just breaking them in. No baking for me now, that's for sure.

And remember they are not that bad to break in...I skate in almost a new pair weekly and have some discomfort sometimes, but nothing that is serious....But they are built to last.....

Show off...lol

Just a side note Justin, I got those D-1 limiteds skated on them a few times, they are awsome skates, However I think my 7500's are much better skates. Just goes to show ya how far you guys at Mission have come in a couple years, from the top model skate and now the 3rd. best being just as good if not better. Mission has always been great skates for me, and its awsome to see them just keep getting better.

skating in a new pair is not a good thing, but necessary...We are constantly playing with patterns and fit, seeing what works and what doesn't....I have been in my current prototypes for a couple months now...I am excited on how they are doing...

gman, way to buy them first, and then ask if anyone has anything bad to say :)

sounds like something I'd do

Yeah, well......

I do that kind of thing all the time. Nice to hear, though, that someone else does it too. I was pretty confident this time, considering they are in the '06 Mission line.

I recently sold my 9500s. Not because they were bad or anything, far from it. Well built skates, weight was excellent...just a pain for me to break in.

I don't heat bake, so that has a lot to do with it. I'm sure if I had given them time, they would have broken in real nice, but I just didn't. I play 3-4 times a week, and the few times I put them to try to break them in, they just hurt too much. The furthest I got with them before having to take them off was 1 whole 15 period. Once that buzzer went, I was in the locker room peeling those puppies off.

I'm sure you'll be fine. If you heat bake, you'll be even better. They are fantastic skates.

Mine are holding up extremely well. I only blistered up badly the first time I skated. Now, It's smooth sailing.

They're still very stiff, even after many weeks of multiple nights on the rink. I'm surprised they have loosened up much at all. Well, they're the best thing since sliced bread and electricity.

i have no complaints. the first time i used these i used them at open hockey because i needed to break them in for torhs. I skated for 3 hours straight and just made them tighter everyonce in a while so they wouldnt get loose on my feet. I didnt get any blisters at all and they are still amazingly stiff. (didnt heat bake them either) dont hate on how stiff they are.. i could have broken my foot easily 6 times this past weekend from slapshots but half the time i didnt feel anything cause these skates have great protection

I bought some HE5500's in December. I took a slapshot to the chassis last night and it locked up my third wheel. When I got home, I saw that it dented and warped the chassis. My advice is to protect your chassis.

Well, they came last night. Oh My Gosh they are awesome. Way more impressive than I expected. Unfortunately they are 1/2 size too big. The box got messed up in transit but the skates are perfect. They are size 11.5 and I am going to put them up in the Sell Forum.

If they sent you the wrong size you can exchange them no? Unless you ordered the wrong size.

Ordered the wrong size. I'm stuck...

Most places will let you exchange them even if you got the wrong size. Where'd you buy from?

I ordered them off of e-bay. The trouble is that I am trying to return them locally to a shop. I know full well that it is pretty lame to try to do it. However I just talked to the hockey shop and they said they will trade them if the box is okay. If they do this, they will have a loyal customer for life and I will post their name so you all can spend your money with them. I'll keep you posted. Thanks gain.

I like my 9500's....the only complaint I have is that I am still getting heel lift on both skates, and I think it's due to the liner Mission used in the boot. It's "slippery" feeling and doesn't hold my feet down well. The only way I can contain the problem is to use heavy waxed laces and and a lace hook to tighten the hell out of them.

Other than that, they're really nice. Stiffer than any boot I have seen to date and very protective.

As far as breaking them in goes, I had mine baked twice and had to have two really bad hot spots punched out, but that's more due to the shape of my feet.

Problem solved. I have new skates that I am wearing around the house. I will have my first skate in them tomorrow with my kids. It is just a two hour public skate around in circles, but hey I'm skating 9500's:-)

Speaking of that, do y'all have any suggestion onhow to make the most of a round-a-bout skating session??? Even the kids get a little bored after a while.
